NFL DFS Picks: Best DraftKings Fantasy Football Plays for Week 7

Published:

By: Stan Son

Green Bay and Detroit headline the slate with the highest total on the board. The home crowd will likely roar and adore as points are scored. The Red Zone audience will scream for more and more! The question for us fantasy nerds is, “Do I add Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown to the core? How about Jordan Love, Matthew Golden and Christian Watson? Can they be ignored?”

We’ve got 10 games on Sunday’s main slate. Seven of them have a three-point spread or less on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Texans are the only double-digit favorite at 10.5 over the Giants. Four games have a total of at least 45 points, with Green Bay-Detroit being the highest at 53.5. Two games total fewer than 40 points. There are six home underdogs.

Quarterback

Stud

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers ($6,800)

This game has the highest total on the slate at 53.5, and the spread is only three points. Both defenses are suspect and will face prolific offenses. A back-and-forth affair is well within the range of outcomes. Goff has completed 67% of his passes for 1,485 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has thrown no interceptions and has been sacked 11 times. PFF rates the Lions offensive line as the best unit, and this game is in the friendly confines of Ford Field, where Goff is most comfortable. His weapons are top-notch, and Goff could channel his inner Oprah: You get a touchdown! You get a touchdown! You get a touchdown!

Other Options – Joe Burrow ($6,900), Brock Purdy ($6,600), Matthew Stafford ($6,400)

Value

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions ($6,000)

I have some concerns about Love here, primarily because PFF ranks the Packers’ offensive line 31st. Detroit ranks ninth in pressure rate, and its 20 sacks lead the league. That said, when the pressure hasn’t gotten there, the pass defense has been shredded. The Lions have allowed a 68.1% completion percentage, a 106.3 passer rating, and 14 passing touchdowns. Josh Jacobs’ return should keep the Lions’ defense honest, and the Lions’ scoring will likely force the Packers to stay aggressive all game.

Other Options – Bryce Young ($5,900), C.J. Stroud ($5,700), Baker Mayfield ($5,500), Kyler Murray ($5,400), Geno Smith ($5,100), Malik Willis ($4,700)

Running Back

Stud

Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers ($6,100)

Irving has carried the ball at least 15 times in five straight games. His production has been lacking, though, finishing with single-digit FPTS in three of the last four games. That said, he had a ceiling game two weeks ago, rushing 21 times for 165 yards and a touchdown while catching two of three targets for 10 yards and a touchdown — good for 34.5 FPTS. Irving played 85% of the snaps last week, and Baker Mayfield is slated to return, which could increase the odds of the offense staying on track and moving the chains. The matchup is good, as Carolina has allowed eight rushing touchdowns, 5.1 yards per carry, and 132.2 yards per game.

Other Options – Jahmyr Gibbs ($9,800), Derrick Henry ($7,900), Christian McCaffrey ($7,600), Kyren Williams ($7,000), Josh Jacobs ($6,300)

Value

Woody Marks, Houston Texans vs. New York Giants ($5,600)

Houston has the 29th-ranked offensive line per PFF, and that’s been a big reason the rushing attack has been so bad. That said, with David Montgomery out, Marks played 78% of the snaps last week and received 15 carries in back-to-back contests. He also got multiple targets and several red zone opportunities. With C.J. Stroud playing well, Marks will see few stacked boxes. The matchup is good, as the Giants are light on the defensive line and have allowed five yards per carry, 135.5 yards per game, and six rushing touchdowns.

Other Options – J.K. Dobbins ($5,700), Jordan Mason ($5,200), Blake Corum ($5,000), Samaje Perine ($4,600)

Wide Receiver

Stud

Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers ($7,800)

St. Brown leads the Lions with 57 targets while garnering double-digit targets in every week but one. His 16 red zone looks lead all pass catchers. While he’s finished with fantasy points in the low teens the last three weeks, he put up 38.2 and 28.7 FPTS in the first two games of the season. This environment should increase St. Brown’s odds of another ceiling game.

Other Options – Puka Nacua ($8,400), Ja’Marr Chase ($8,100), Justin Jefferson ($7,300), Nico Collins ($7,200), Tetairoa McMillan ($7,100), Christian Watson ($7,000), Zay Flowers ($6,900), Tee Higgins ($6,600), Garrett Wilson ($6,500), Jalen Coker ($6,100)

Value

Matthew Golden, Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions ($6,000)

Golden leads the Packers with 57 targets, and his 11 red-zone opportunities are the 11th-most for pass catchers. He’s finished with 25.4 and 23.3 FPTS in the last two weeks and has scored a touchdown in three of his last four contests. This should be a back-and-forth affair, so double-digit targets are likely again against a porous Lions secondary.

Other Options – Jameson Williams ($5,800), Adonai Mitchell ($4,500), Jaylin Noel ($3,900), Konata Mumpfield ($3,200)

Tight End

Stud

George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons ($5,700)

Injuries have decimated the 49ers wide receiver room. As a result, Kittle is now the top option in the passing game. And he’s looked fantastic coming off Achilles surgery. He’s scored five touchdowns in the last five games, with the only bagel coming against the Seattle Seahawks. Atlanta has allowed the 10th-most fantasy points to the position.

Other Options – Sam LaPorta ($4,800), Tucker Kraft ($4,700), TJ Hockenson ($4,500)

Value

Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams at Las Vegas Raiders ($3,500)

Davante Adams is out, and Puka Nacua is questionable, so Higbee will likely be a key part of the passing attack. With Nacua sidelined in Week 3, Higbee caught 8 of 11 targets for 62 yards and a touchdown — good for 20.2 FPTS. Las Vegas has allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to the position.

Other Options – Michael Mayer ($3,700), Cade Otton ($3,100), Tommy Tremble ($2,900)

Defense/Special Teams

Stud

Vikings DST vs. Indianapolis Colts ($3,500)

Minnesota leads the NFL in blitz rate and pressure rate. The Vikings are tied for third in takeaways (10) and tied for sixth in sacks (17). The unit has produced at least 8 FPTS in every game, with three in double digits and a high of 17 FPTS. The Colts have no receiver to take the top spot, and Daniel Jones can’t make all the throws after Achilles surgery.

Other Options – Texans DST ($3,400), Broncos DST ($3,300)

Value

Titans DST vs. Cleveland Browns ($2,600)

Tennessee has been decent at stopping the run, allowing 3.8 yards per carry. The pass defense hasn’t been as good, allowing a 69.2% completion percentage and a 92.8 passer rating. That said, it has allowed only six passing touchdowns while securing four interceptions. The unit has racked up 16 sacks. Last week, it put up 21 FPTS against the Colts, with six sacks, two interceptions, a fumble and a touchdown. Deshaun Watson has been sacked 24 times, an NFL high.

Other Options – Jets DST ($2,900), Browns DST ($2,800)

More on this game

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.
