Best NHL Player Props Today
Adam Fox 1+ Assist (-110)
After being held off the scoresheet in the Rangers’ season-opener, Fox has notched at least one assist in each of his past four outings. Among defensemen, he ranks fifth in assists per 60 and is tied for the most primary assists. Tonight’s matchup against Logan Thompson and the Capitals isn’t always easy, but Thompson is still gettable, despite his 2.50 GAA and .921 SV% through two starts. Washington has been strong on the penalty kill, too, ranking fifth in PK%, but the club is still playing rather undisciplined, ranking second in penalty minutes per 60. Fox sits on New York’s top power play unit and ranks second on the team in ice time per game, so the opportunities to create plays should be there tonight.
Cutter Gauthier 4+ Shots on Goal (-140)
The odds are not necessarily enticing, but it is also always difficult to pass up on Gauthier SOG props. The 22-year-old was a cash-cow for SOGs last season, and that trend has continued this season, as he has averaged 5.3 shots and 10.7 shot attempts per game through the first three outings. Among all skaters, he ranks first in 5v5 shot attempts per 60 and seventh in 5v5 shots per 60. Gauthier has cleared this total in all three games, and he draws an elite matchup against the Jets, who are tied for the second-most shots against per game. He ranks second among Ducks’ forwards in ice time per game and should see additional opportunities on the first power play unit.
