Can you believe we’re already onto Week 3 of the NFL season? This week on Thursday Night Football, Jordan Love leads the Green Bay Packers at home against the Atlanta Falcons at Lambeau Field. The quarterback has needed to throw the ball plenty over the first couple of games, so against a depleted secondary, we could see a ton of volume if he gets the green light to sling the rock.

The Packers were upset by the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 as they choked away a first-half lead. It was a very disappointing result as the team dropped its sixth straight game dating back to Week 15 of last season, which dated back to November 27, 2025. However, Jordan Love did put up numbers in the season-opening loss with 387 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns – a sign of what may come. In Week 2, the Pack were nearly upset again but eventually prevailed against the New York Jets, snapping that long losing streak at last. That game wasn’t exactly pretty as it went down to the wire, but at the end of the day, a win is a win.

Love didn’t pop in terms of yardage during last week’s outing as he finished with just 145 yards, but he tossed another pair of touchdowns in the effort. That brought his stats on the young season up to a 52.1% completion rate with 532 yards, four touchdowns and one pick. His efficiency has left much on the table, but that partially stems from a poor offensive line that’s allowed a ton of pressure and has left him throwing on the run more often than not. Beyond that, the absence of Josh Jacobs as he misses time on the Commissioner’s Exempt list has Green Bay’s run game in shambles.

Looking ahead to Week 3, Love could be positioned for a high-volume game under center if the opposing Falcons can get their offense back on track with Michael Penix Jr. stepping in under center. There’s something appealing about the matchup for the Packers, too.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Love’s player prop bet lines are set at O/U 228.5 passing yards, 1.5 passing touchdowns and 0.5 interceptions. His odds to score an anytime touchdown are +550. As for the game lines, the Packers are a 5.5-point favorite with the total set at 42.5 combined points.

As mentioned above, the Green Bay rushing attack doesn’t look right at the moment. MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks are the primary halfbacks, but they haven’t been effective as the team ranks dead last in rushing yards per game with just 64.5, also averaging 3.3 yards per carry behind a depleted offensive line. It’s early, but there are 15 NFL halfbacks averaging more yards per game than the Packers’ entire backfield entering Week 3.

On the opposite side of things, Atlanta ranks first against the run with just 126 rushing yards allowed on the season so far. It’s just a small sample of two games, but even on a per-play basis, the Falcons are second in defensive EPA/rush. It seems Green Bay may have a very tough time running the ball due to a combination of the lack of backfield talent and a difficult matchup.

For that reason, it would make sense to see the Packers turn to the passing attack on Thursday Night Football. Love hasn’t been efficient, but he’s been dishing out touchdowns and already has a game of nearly 400 passing yards under his belt thanks to the 40+ pass attempts he logged in that one. Similar volume may not be a realistic projection since his team is a 5.5-point favorite at home here, but 30+ attempts does seem like a surefire bet. Christian Watson has really impressed in a larger role and Matthew Golden seems to be coming into his own as a sophomore, plus Tucker Kraft remains a standout weapon even if he’s still working his way back from injury.

Personally, I like Love to get over 228.5 passing yards and 1.5 passing touchdowns in this game. A more pass-heavy game plan seems like a natural fit given the matchup, and beyond that, Atlanta’s standout cornerback A.J. Terrell just hit IR with a groin injury. With the Falcons’ top corner sidelined, the Packers’ passing game should eat.
