A 15-game, 30-team MLB slate is on tap for Saturday. For those looking to cash in quickly on a bet, nothing makes more sense than an NRFI. With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look on Saturday?

Tigers vs. Guardians NRFI (-160)
Framber Valdez gets the nod tonight, making his 28th start of the season. Through 150.2 innings pitched, he’s recorded a 4.36 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 116 strikeouts (6.9 K/9). Safe to say, it hasn’t been the most memorable debut in Detroit for the southpaw. With that being said, the two-time All-Star remains an above-average arm, and this is a fairly advantageous spot. Cleveland batters have a .671 OPS against left-handed pitching, fourth-worst in the majors. In addition, the Guardians are tied for the league’s eighth-lowest YRFI rate (27.46). In short, this is far from an offensive juggernaut.
Few pitchers have put together a better 2026 than Parker Messick. The AL Rookie of the Year candidate is the ace of this Cleveland rotation. Over 161.0 innings (27 starts), he’s notched a 2.46 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 161 strikeouts (9.0 K/9). Unsurprisingly, the right-hander has been terrific at the very beginning of games (88.9% NRFI). Detroit comes into this one in an absolute rut at the plate. The team has scored an MLB-worst 31 runs over its last ten contests. Messick has only allowed two earned runs in each of his previous two meetings with the Tigers.
Yankees vs. Padres NRFI (-130)
Carlos Rodon will toe the slab tonight for New York. When healthy, the southpaw is an effective hurler. During 12 starts this season, he’s produced a 3.20 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 63 strikeouts (9.6 K/9). The former All-Star has allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his last four appearances. As for his opponents, the Padres have the tenth-worst OPS against left-handed pitching (.688). To boot, San Diego ranks last in all of baseball with a 23.40% YRFI rate. The Friars are averaging a minuscule 3.97 runs per game at home.
On the other side, it’ll be Robbie Ray taking the mound. San Diego’s trade deadline acquisition has been a stabilizing force with his new club. Over his last five starts, the right-hander has recorded a solid 3.42 ERA. Even more important, the former Cy Young winner has yet to allow a first inning run with the Padres. New York’s lineup, while loaded with big names, hasn’t impressed this summer. That’s especially true on the road, where the team has put up the seventh-worst YRFI rate (23.29%). When Ray faced the Yankees earlier this year, as a member of the Giants, he spun 5.2 innings of two-run ball. A similar, if not better, performance could be in the cards on Saturday.
