Liverpool and Marseille face off in an epic Champions League quarter-final match. Liverpool are in poor form, coming off a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup. Meanwhile, PSG is cruising along atop Ligue 1. Paris Saint-Germain is looking to take a commanding lead with them to Anfield with a strong performance at Parc des Princes on Wednesday.
PSG are a -135 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook for this one, with a draw available at +320. Liverpool are +330 to pull off the upset and take all three points. This is my favorite same-game parlay bet for the Champions League tie between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG vs. Liverpool Prediction
Liverpool Preview
A poor performance in this match from Liverpool could be the nail in the coffin for manager Arne Slot. He has been under immense criticism due to Liverpool’s lackluster play in the Premier League. However, the club’s position in the FA Cup quarterfinals and Champions League quarterfinals gave him a degree of job security. Last weekend, Liverpool got battered 4-0 in the FA Cup by Manchester City. Liverpool was heavily criticized for giving up over the final half hour of the game. If PSG manages a similar result in this match, it would push Liverpool to the brink of elimination in the Champions League and could lead to a total mess on Merseyside.
Paris Saint-Germain Preview
PSG is looking to repeat as Champions League winners. Luis Enrique’s squad was brilliant in last year’s Champions League competition, cruising through the competition to win the club’s first Champions League title. The side has not been as strong this year, finishing in 11th place in the League Phase of the competition. Additionally, PSG has just a four-point lead atop Ligue 1. The Parisian side has been quite inconsistent in all competitions this season. However, they still have incredible attacking pieces up top that can create magic when needed.
PSG vs. Liverpool Same Game Parlay Pick
My favorite same-game parlay for Wednesday’s Champions League fixture is for PSG to win and for the two teams to combine for over 2.5 goals. Liverpool has had major issues defensively, which has been worsened by the injury to Alisson Becker. Giorgi Mamardashvili has a lot of potential as a future goalkeeper for Liverpool, but it was clear in that Manchester City match, and in his other appearance this season, that he is not up to Becker’s level, though few are. Paris Saint-Germain will want to test the backup goalkeeper and fire shots at him. They are already an aggressive attacking group, and the idea of a backup goalkeeper will only excite them more.
It would not be surprising to see Liverpool grab a goal either. Matvey Safonov has been a revelation for PSG in goal, but he is not up to the standard of the great Gianluigi Donnarumma, who led PSG to the title last season. Liverpool also have a massive boost for this game, with the return of Alexander Isak. Isak has not played in months, and while he won’t be fit to start, he is available to come on as a substitute. Nobody would be shocked to see Isak spring up and steal a goal late in this match. Both teams have a chance to grab a goal or two, but PSG should leave their home stadium with the win ultimately.
