MLB Odds & Storylines
We get underway at 6:08 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park as the Dodgers take on the Phillies looking to head back to L.A. up 2-0 in the series. The Dodgers are favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook at -132 on the moneyline, with the run total set at 7.5.
It should be a pitcher’s duel, as Blake Snell takes on Jesús Luzardo. Both pitchers have strong numbers against the opposing offense — Phillies bats are a career 23-for-137 (.168) vs Snell while Dodger bats are 23-for-107 (.223) vs Luzardo — so it should come as no surprise that in his best prop bets article Griffin Wong is eyeing two pitcher props.
On the L.A. side, Griffin highlights Snell 8+ Strikeouts (-111), noting that the Phillies had the most strikeouts against lefties and their two most dangerous power hitters, Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, both bat from the left side. For Philly, Griffin says while Luzardo isn’t the most consistent pitcher in the league, he’s a true ace on his best day. Thus, Luzardo U4.5 Hits Allowed (-139) is a play he wanted to highlight.
The second game on the slate will see the Cubs take on the Brewers in Milwaukee at 9:08 p.m. ET with Chicago looking to even up the series. The Brewers are -137 favorites on the moneyline, with the run total set at 7.5.
Shota Imanaga takes the mound for Chicago, with Brewers bats a career 20-for-82 (.244) against him. On the other side, Aaron Ashby is expected to be an opener tonight, having primarily pitched out of the bullpen for the Brewers this season. Chicago bats are a career 12-for-52 (.231) against Ashby, although he posted a 4.15 ERA in three relief appearances against the Cubs this season.
In his top home run props article, Garion Thorne points out that Andrew Vaughn CRUSHES left-handed pitching. He posted a team-high .641 expected slugging percentage off LHPs during the regular season and now he’ll get to face off against Shota Imanaga, who simply cannot keep the ball in the park as of late. So it’s no shock that he likes Vaughn 1+ Home Run (+418). Meanwhile on the Cubs’ side, after looking at the stats on DraftKings Sportsbook, it’s worth considering Ian Happ 1+ hits (-156) since Happ has recorded at least one hit in each of the Cubs’ last seven road games against the Brewers.
