MLB Picks and Player Props September 5, 2025
Kyle Schwarber 3+ H/R/RBI (+100) vs. Miami Marlins
Schwarber continues to pile up offensive stats, with 19 home runs, 50 RBIs, and 30 runs scored through 44 games in the second half of the season. Tonight, he draws a fantastic matchup against Valente Bellozo. Bellozo has primarily worked out of the bullpen this season, but he’s listed as the starter tonight. In his last outing, Bellozo went 4.1 innings, so he should be stretched out enough for an extended role. That’s good news for Schwarber, as Bellozo has allowed a .387 wOBA, a 5.50 FIP, and six of the eight home runs he’s given up have come against left-handed hitters.
Bellozo’s two primary pitches, a cut fastball and a four-seam fastball, are exactly the ones Schwarber thrives against. Against cutters, Schwarber owns a .570 wOBA with a .455 ISO, and against four-seamers, he’s posted a .489 wOBA with a .451 ISO. Between those pitch profiles and Bellozo’s struggles versus lefties, this sets up as a prime spot for the Phillies’ power hitter.
Junior Caminero 2+ total bases (+110) vs. Cleveland Guardians
Speaking of players on a tear, Caminero deserves a mention. He’s played 43 games in the second half of the season and already racked up 23 extra-base hits. His home run power has reached another level, as he’s gone deep 17 times, just six shy of the 23 he hit in the first half. Tonight, he faces Guardians starter Gavin Williams, who has really struggled against right-handed hitters on the road. They’ve tagged him for a .431 wOBA, seven of the 20 home runs he’s allowed, and a 7.11 FIP. Playing in Tampa isn’t likely to help Williams, as Caminero has done most of his damage at home, where he’s hit 21 of his 40 homers with a .301 ISO.
Tyler Glasnow to record a win (+130) vs. Baltimore Orioles
Glasnow is the perfect candidate to snap the Dodgers’ current three-game skid. He’s facing an Orioles lineup that looks almost unrecognizable compared to Opening Day. Since returning from the IL in early July, Glasnow has made nine starts and posted a 3.02 ERA, a .268 opponent wOBA, and a 29% strikeout rate. Baltimore’s offense has shown plenty of swing-and-miss tendencies while producing mostly soft contact, making this a favorable spot for the Dodgers’ ace. On the other side, Dean Kremer has been in rough form, surrendering 13 runs over his last eight innings. With the matchup tilted this heavily, Glasnow is well-positioned to pick up the win tonight.
Editor’s Note: Tyler Glasnow has been scratched from tonight’s start, Shohei Ohtani will start in his place.
Good luck with your MLB picks and player props for September 5, 2025!
