New York Yankees at Chicago White Sox prediction, pick for Saturday 8/30/25

The New York Yankees have outscored the Chicago White Sox 20-6 in the first two games of their series. Tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET, the Yankees face the White Sox once again. The Yankees enter this game riding a six-game winning streak while being unbeaten in their previous eight contests on the road. New York’s last road defeat was on August 5.

Tonight is a rookie showdown as the Yankees have Cam Schlittler on the mound, and the White Sox are starting Shane Smith. Here is my breakdown of the game and my best bet for the contest on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Yankees at White Sox preview

After losing three of four games against their rival, the Boston Red Sox, the Yankees have looked dominant. They have had five games with 10-plus runs while not totaling under five runs during their hot streak. Trent Grisham and Jazz Chisholm Jr. have played a big part in the Yankees’ recent success. Grisham has hit five home runs in the last week, while Chisholm Jr. has hit four of them.

This season, the Yankees have been one of the best teams in the MLB away from home. They have a 34-32 record on the road, the fourth best in baseball. Pairing that with a matchup against the second-worst team in the MLB gives New York a massive advantage.

Even though both starting pitchers are rookies, Shane Smith has started 15 more games this season. Although Schlittler hasn’t seen a lot of action, he has performed well recently. Schlittler has only allowed one run in his previous three starts while giving up seven total hits in that span. Smith has only allowed four runs once in his last seven starts, but has only pitched six-plus innings twice in his previous 10 outings.

Yankees at White Sox pick, best bet

With the Yankees being a big -231 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, the better play is to get them -1.5, which is -136. That is because they have won their last six games by at least four runs. New York’s previous eight victories against Chicago have come by more than 1.5 runs.

The Yankees are averaging an MLB-best 5.27 runs per game this season. Their offense this season has actually been better on the road, recording 5.36 runs per contest. The White Sox have lost four straight games and are 4-11 in their last 15. With Chicago’s offense showing no signs of life, another big victory seems to be on the horizon for New York.

Best Bet: New York Yankees -1.5 (-136)
