Storm vs. Athena Prediction at Forbidden Door
This is the first singles match between Toni Storm and Athena. They did face off once in a Women’s World Championship match in 2022, in which Storm defeated Britt Baker and Athena. Storm has held the title for nearly 190 days and is in the middle of her second-longest reign. Storm has been dominant throughout the past year, with her previous loss in singles competition dating back to August 2024.
Mercedes Mone took Storm to her limit at AEW All In Texas, but overcame the odds and retained her title. Now Storm has Athena in her path, who has won four straight singles matches and has held her ROH title for over 980 days. Although she has been excellent in ROH, Athena is now stepping up to the best women’s wrestler in AEW history.
To me, in this match, Storm’s experience competing on significant events is the difference. Even though Athena presents a tough challenge for the champion, it isn’t nearly the same as Mone’s threat to the champion in July.
