Golf’s third major tees off at Oakmont Country Club this week as the best golfers in the world compete for the U.S. Open.

This is a look at the best Rory McIlroy prop bet to make for the event on DraftKings Sportsbook.

U.S. Open: Rory McIlroy Props

The U.S. Open is being played at Oakmont Country Club outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The U.S. Open is the third major of the year, with Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler winning the first two majors of the season. Oakmont is a par 70 golf course and ranges 7,431 yards. It is one of the most difficult golf courses in the world, with very high scores winning here in the past. The poa annua greens and brutally thick rough make it a great challenge for the world’s best golfers. The two best players in the world, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, won the first two majors of the year and will want to win this one as well. However, defending U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau will be tough to beat at Oakmont as well. It should be a great battle in brutal conditions among the world’s best players.

Rory McIlroy Top 10 (+130)

Rory McIlroy has had a special year on the PGA TOUR. McIlroy finally conquered his demons at Augusta National, winning The Masters and completing the career grand slam. Now, McIlroy’s goal will be to stack as many majors as possible to put himself among the all-time great players. However, the resurgence of Scottie Scheffler could be a deterrent to McIlroy winning more majors. Scheffler has looked untouchable over the past month, including winning the PGA Championship. McIlroy will need to play his best golf to beat Scheffler at Oakmont. Luckily for McIlroy, his game is a great fit for these U.S. Open venues. That is why I am betting on him to finish in the top-10 at this week’s major championship.

McIlroy has finished inside the top-10 at six straight U.S. Opens, including being the runner-up at each of the past two U.S. Opens. McIlroy also won the U.S. Open in 2011. Not just counting U.S. Opens, McIlroy has been a top-10 machine at majors in general over the past few seasons. He has top-10 finishes in nine of the past 14 majors. This season, McIlroy ranks third on the PGA TOUR in strokes gained total, second in strokes gained off the tee and third in one-putt percentage. If McIlroy can keep the driver straight, he will have short approach shots into these holes, giving him a huge advantage. Avoiding the rough around these greens is essential to winning, so players with McIlroy’s length will have a better chance at avoiding mistakes. At plus-money, I’m backing Rory McIlroy to finish in the top-10 for the seventh straight U.S. Open.
