Wheeler has 88 strikeouts this season, which is fifth in the MLB. He has had over 6.5 strikeouts in six of his previous seven starts. He has had much success against the Phillies’ division rival, totaling seven-plus strikeouts in four of his last five starts against Atlanta.
Getting Wheeler to record more than 6.5 strikeouts tonight at -150 on DraftKings Sportsbook is an excellent play considering his performance this season. Wheeler is averaging 11.21 strikeouts per nine innings, the fourth-most in baseball.
Wheeler has hit this mark in strikeouts in nine of his 11 starts this season. The Braves struck out 11 times last night, with starter Ranger Suarez having eight. Suarez has been good lately, but Wheeler is on a different level and should feast on a struggling Braves team that has lost six of its last eight games. Wheeler strikes out 32.7 percent of the batters he has faced this season and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
