With Stephen Curry out, is Jonathan Kuminga a must-play vs. the Pelicans on Tuesday?

Steph Curry suffered a left peroneal strain in his ankle Sunday and will miss at least the next two games for the Warriors. The sharpshooter is leading Golden State with a 28% usage rate this season and with him sidelined, Jonathan Kuminga ($5,900) should be the primary beneficiary for the Warriors. Let’s not forget that Klay Thompson is now in Dallas and with he and Curry off the floor over the last two seasons, Kuminga’s usage has increased 4.1 percentage points to a huge 28.5%.

Curry missed eight games last season and Kuminga was terrific in those tilts, averaging 18.8 PPG, despite Thompson being available for all these games. On a per 36-minute basis, Kuminga is averaging 21.4 points with Curry and Thompson off the floor over the last two seasons.

Andrew Wiggins ($5,700; back) is also questionable Tuesday vs. the Pelicans and if he joins Curry on the sidelines, Kuminga’s usage would likely eclipse 30%.

Nonetheless, with Curry on the shelf, Kuminga will be a great DFS option Tuesday despite the subpar matchup with New Orleans – the Pelicans rank eighth in defensive efficiency this season – and he will be a player to attack in the betting market. While player props have yet to be released for this contest on DraftKings Sportsbook, if Kuminga’s point line is anything under 20 points, his over will be a sharp wager.
