Bears TE Cole Kmet doubtful to return in Week 16 vs. Cardinals

The Chicago Bears are taking on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16. Chicago tight end Cole Kmet was tackled awkwardly in the first quarter, and it looked like he may have tweaked his knee, but he wasn’t taken into the medical tent. Kmet has barely played since, though, so it seems like he is hurting.

Kmet has been the second-most important pass-catcher for the Bears this season. He has played in all 14 games and has brought in 66 of his 81 targets for 571 yards and six touchdowns this season. Kmet was having a great game before getting hurt, coming down with four of his five targets for 107 yards, leading the team on Sunday.

With Kmet sidelined, a combo of Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis will likely be used. Lewis brought in a touchdown earlier in the game, but Tonyan is listed as the backup tight end on the depth chart, with Lewis as the No. 3 option behind the starter Kmet.

Cole Kmet injury updates

Update: Kmet has been downgraded to doubtful to return. The game is currently at halftime, so this doesn’t bode well for a potential return in the second half.
