The final game of Week 8 looks like it might be a banger. A high-powered Bears offense is on the road tonight in Seattle in front of what’ll surely be a rowdy crowd as they take on the reigning champions. D’Andre Swift has been a crucial cog in Chicago’s attack and is arguably in the midst of a career-best season, but he faces his most difficult matchup yet as he tries to run against one of the best rushing defenses in the NFL.

Here are the best D’Andre Swift prop bets for Bears vs. Seahawks on Monday Night Football in Week 8.

Best D’Andre Swift prop bet for Bears vs. Seahawks

It’s been a quality season for D’Andre Swift to this point. There was chatter out of training camp before the season began that suggested the veteran halfback looked spry, including some comments from head coach Ben Johnson that suggested he’d be in for the best year of his career. The front office extended their top back on a lucrative multi-year deal just prior to Week 1, and thus far, he’s seemed to have earned it. Swift ranks 15th in rushing yards across the NFL with 476 in seven games, notably notching one less appearance than most of the players ranked ahead of him. He’s also recorded seven rushing touchdowns already, tied for the second-most at the position.

Swift has been quite effective, but he hasn’t quite lived up to his numbers from the season opener on a weekly basis. He recorded 124 rushing yards and three touchdowns in Week 1, but he’s failed to reach even 60 rushing yards in four of the six games since then despite taking 15 or more carries in all but one game. His 4.1 YPC is also solid, but not the high-end efficiency you tend to see from top running backs. Heading into one of his toughest matchups of the season, what are the expectations for him?

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Swift’s player prop bet lines are set at O/U 61.5 rushing yards and 16.5 rush attempts, plus 3.5 receptions and 20.5 receiving yards. His -110 odds to score an anytime touchdown are the second shortest of any player in this game. The Bears are also a 3.5-point underdog on the road with the total set at 46.5 combined points.

The Seahawks’ defense is what propelled them to a championship last season. This year, they’re looking almost as formidable on that side of the ball. Seattle ranks third in EPA/play allowed and second in EPA/rush allowed, also sitting second in success rate and explosive play rate allowed. Against the run in particular, the unit ranks second in rushing success rate (41.0%) and explosive rush rate (7.6%), so they’re great on a down-to-down basis and at limiting big plays.

As such, this is probably one of the two worst matchups for Swift that he’s seen this season, rivaled only by the Vikings back in Week 2. In that game, which came against a similarly great defense, he ran 16 times for just 45 rushing yards, though he did catch five of his six targets for 54 receiving yards.

The under on 61.5 rushing yards makes a lot of sense for bettors looking to target Swift’s props tonight. He’s remained under that rushing line in four of his seven appearances this season even despite the volume he’s often seen, and realistically, this defense is one of the toughest in the NFL to gain ground against. The Seahawks’ front seven is very impressive and their defensive backs also seem more than happy to make plays in the run game – they’re fast and hit hard when given the chance. I don’t feel great projecting Swift to get much going on the ground here, especially with Seattle allowing an average of only 71.0 rushing yards per game to halfbacks this season, fifth fewest of any team.

If there’s an over that does look appealing here, it’s the over on 3.5 receptions for the halfback at plus value. He’s caught four or more passes in four of his seven games, three of which have come over the last three weeks. Swift is essentially a bell-cow back who gets plenty of chances in the receiving game as well, and the Seattle defense does profile as fairly soft against the pass for RBs. The Seahawks have given up an average of 6.1 targets and 5.4 receptions per game to halfbacks, which are both inside the eighth most or higher. If they take away the deeper areas of the field, the ball could be funneled to Swift underneath, but I’d still rather take the under on his rushing line.

Best Bet: D’Andre Swift under 61.5 rushing yards (-112)
