Week 5 of the NFL season wraps up with a beautiful matchup on Monday Night Football between the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams. Both teams are considered legitimate contenders, although neither comes into this matchup undefeated. To add another level of excitement, DraftKings Sportsbook is offering another King of the End Zone promotion to hand out another massive haul of bonus bets.
This week’s King of the End Zone promo will award a massive $2 million in bonus bets. If you opt in to the token and place a singles bet of at least $5 on a player in a touchdown market and he scores the longest touchdown of the night, you win a share of the $2 million in bonus bets. So far this season, Jaxon Smith-Njigba of the Seahawks, Joshua Palmer of the Bills, Kalif Raymond of the Bears, and Bijan Robinson of the Falcons have claimed King of the End Zone honors and earned substantial Bonus Bets for their backers.
Earlier today, I ran down some of my top plays for Week 5’s Monday Night Football version of DraftKings King of the End Zone, and in this post, we’ll take a look at three longshot plays that have a chance to return huge payouts if they end up earning the crown.
King of the End Zone — What You Need to Know

The rules of the promotion are pretty simple. After opting in, bettors will receive a token to place on a singles bet with a $5 minimum in the “TD Scorers” market. If the player with the token scores the longest touchdown of the game, you will win a share of $2 million in bonus bets. The fewer people who have their token on that player, the larger the payout will be, so it’s important to balance out the popularity of the pick with the likelihood of it hitting. Taking a longer shot could land a massive payout, while picking a more obvious choice has a more likely chance of winning, even if the bonus bet payout is smaller.
Passing touchdowns are ineligible for this promotion, so if you want to pick Matthew Stafford — for example — he’ll have to run it in himself for the longest score rather than pass for the touchdown. Despite not being an individual player, D/ST is eligible to become King of the End Zone if the longest touchdown comes on a defensive or special teams play.
King of the End Zone Long Shot Picks for Monday, Oct. 12:
When making King of the End Zone picks, it’s important to consider players who are not only likely to score a touchdown but are also likely to score the longest touchdown of the game. In these picks, I’m really looking for an option that could break a long score but will not be a popular play. They don’t have the highest likelihood of hitting, but if they do, the bonus bets payout would be extremely large.
These three picks are my favorite long-shot plays who have the potential to score a long touchdown, and they’re off the radar enough that they should come with lower popularity.
1. Khalil Shakir (+220 Anytime Touchdown)
Shakir could be the Bills’ top WR in this matchup, depending on the status of DJ Moore (shoulder, questionable). Shakir and Keon Coleman (who I highlighted in my main picks article), will each get lots of work if Moore is out along with Joshua Palmer (shoulder), who has already been ruled out. Coleman will likely get more attention than Shakir for King of the End Zone action, which is why Shakir is more of a long shot. If he does deliver the longest score, though, he’ll probably deliver bigger bonus bets as a result.
Shakir hasn’t scored a touchdown this season, but he has at least six targets in three of his four games and is one of Josh Allen’s most trusted receivers. Last year, Shakir had four receiving touchdowns, tied for second-most on the team. He had a 54-yard score in Week 8 against the Panthers, showing his breakaway ability.
Without Palmer and possibly Moore, Shakir should be poised to produce a solid game overall, and he’s a long-shot play for King of the End Zone with the potential to claim the crown.
2. Konata Mumpfield (+750 Anytime TD)
On the other side, the Rams have some big-play potential in their receiving corps as well. While Puka Nacua and Davante Adams deserve and will get most of the attention, it’s actually second-year receiver Konata Mumpfield that has the team’s longest score of the season.
Mumpfield finished that game with four catches on eight targets for 93 yards, playing 73% of snaps. He played a much smaller role with only 27% snaps in Week 4 with Nacua returning, but he did still get three targets and remains involved enough to be a home-run threat. If he and Stafford can connect on another huge play, he is a long-shot option for Monday’s King of the End Zone.
3. Skyler Bell (+650 Anytime TD)
With Palmer out, Bell is expected to make his NFL debut after being a healthy inactive through the first four games of the season. The Bills used a fourth-round pick on Bell out of UConn, but the rookie was banged up for much of training camp. He did get into the third preseason game, though, and he flashed a little bit of his ceiling by catching 7-of-10 targets for 49 yards and adding one carry for 28 yards and one touchdown.
Especially if Moore is ultimately ruled out as well, Bell could get a significant workload in his debut. Palmer won King of the End Zone with his 43-yard touchdown catch in Week 2 against the Lions, and he also had a 34-yard touchdown in Week 1 against the Texans. If Bell runs Palmer’s route tree, he has the potential to end up in good spots on Monday night.
Most people probably won’t be looking for Bell to break out with the longest touchdown of the night, so if he does produce a King of the End Zone crown in his debut, he will likely bring massive Bonus Bets. He’s definitely high-risk, but he’s a long-shot option to consider on Monday night.
