As the “bell cow” role gets closer and closer to extinction every year, there is not a position in fantasy football filled with as much intrigue and importance as running back. Every week is a minefield; between committees, injuries and game scripts.
In this article, I’ll try to ease the burden of your mind a little bit. Take the pressure off, if you will.
Here are the touch projections for the Top 40 RBs in fantasy football in Week 4, with carries and targets isolated for those in both standard and PPR formats.

– Proj Car / Proj Tgt — Projected rushing attempts and receiving targets. Game script adjusts the split: favored teams get up to 12% more carries, underdogs get up to 15% more targets.
– Opp Run D — Matchup grade for the RB from A+ (softest defense) to F (toughest), based on blended 2025 + 2026 rush yards, YPC, and TDs allowed.
– Projections — Built from blended per-game rates (40% 2025 / 60% 2026), adjusted for matchup, game spread, DK team totals, and depth chart role. Out/IR players excluded with touches redistributed. Q/D volume reductions apply Fri-Sun only (after official designations).
Jeremiyah Love, Cardinals vs. Giants | 15.9 Projected Touches
The Cardinals lost the game, but Week 3 truly felt like a coming-out party for Jeremiyah Love at the NFL level. Not only did Love set new career-highs across the board in rushing yards (90), scrimmage yards (109), carries (21) and receptions (5); but the first-round pick saw his snap share jump from 40.0% in Week 2 to 64.4% against the 49ers. He also out-touched Tyler Allgeier — the other back in this “committee” approach — by a margin of 26-to-6, with Allgeier garnering -1 rushing yards on a pair of carries. If that doesn’t clearly indicate what Mike LaFleur’s thinks about Love, I don’t know what could. The Notre Dame product has all the talent in the world, and I doubt he’ll often be working with fewer than 20 touches going forward. This projection is selling the rookie short.
Braelon Allen, Jets vs. Bears | 14.5 Projected Touches
Breece Hall (thigh) didn’t practice on Wednesday, and all signs point to the veteran RB being unable to suit up this coming weekend. So, that begs the question of how the Jets will go about divvying up Hall’s usual workload. In Week 1 and Week 2, Hall was seeing a roughly 60/40 snap split with Braelon Allen, though he was clearly the preferred back on New York’s depth chart, as he saw 38 rushing attempts to Allen’s 15. This backfield has solely been a two-man committee, too. While Isaiah Davis dressed for each of the Jets’ first three contests of 2026, he’s yet to play a single snap — even after Hall was ruled out in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss. With that in mind, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Allen dominate the running back snaps and touches in Week 4. If the Jets can stay in a somewhat neutral script, I could envision Allen flirting with 20-22 opportunities against the Bears.
Ollie Gordon II, Dolphins vs. Vikings | 9.0 Projected Touches
Everyone ran out to grab Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright off the waiver wire to start the week. Now what? The first thing to know is that Wright returned to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday, and if you believe reports that he was close to playing against the Chiefs, the assumption has to be that he’ll be available for Week 4. That makes things a little more complex for Gordon, who was literally the only healthy RB the Dolphins had on the active roster versus the Chiefs following De’Von Achane’s injury. Seriously. Wideout Malik Washington even got a second-half carry out of a backfield set when Gordon was briefly sidelined with cramping. All told, Gordon rushing 17 times for 41 yards and a touchdown, while adding three receptions on three targets. My best guess on how this situation plays out? We’re probably looking at a near 50/50 split, with the big-bodied Gordon seeing the goal line work, and the more explosive Wright being a consistent weapon in the passing game. Miami is a double-digit underdog on the road in Minnesota. This might be a Wright script.
