The Jets offense has looked much improved this season with Geno Smith at QB and Frank Reich as the new offensive coordinator. One key contributor starting to emerge is rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq, who the Jets drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft. While the Jets are obviously very high on the athletic rookie, should he be one of the top names you’re looking for on the waiver wire for Week 4? Let’s dive in and take a look at the Broncos’ backfield situation and see if Sadiq deserves a spot on your squad.

Kenyon Sadiq’s path to this point
Sadiq starred at Oregon last year, catching 52 passes for 568 yards and eight touchdowns in his third season with the Ducks. He set a record with his 4.39-second 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine and the Jets drafted him with the No. 16 overall pick.
He battled injury right after the draft, requiring a minor hernia repair procedure in May that took longer than expected to heal. He didn’t participate in the preseason and was very limited in training camp. He did make it back for Week 1, and he scored a three-yard rushing touchdown, while hauling in all three of his targets for 21 yards in the team’s win over the Titans.
In Week 2, Sadiq caught 2-of-3 passes for 17 yards and was in a smaller role behind Mason Taylor. However, Taylor sustained a thumb injury and is considered week-to-week. Without Taylor in Week 3, Sadiq was already positioned for a bigger role, but with Adonai Mitchell (finger) also ruled out, the stage was set for Sadiq to go off.

He went off for 26.5 FPTS by hauling in seven catches for 105 yards and an impressive touchdown.
He was a little shaken up on the play but was able to return to the game and continue to make big catches as the Jets tried to rally against the Lions. The Lions secondary is an excellent matchup to attack, but Sadiq’s success should have earned him more time going forward, and he could be an elite option for the Jets’ much-improved passing game going forward.
The Bottom Line–Add Kenyon Sadiq in All Formats
Tight end production can fluctuate week-to-week, but Sadiq has the athletic potential and opportunity in front of him to be an outstanding pickup. He does have some durability concerns, but if you can pick him up, he brings the potential to be a starting option the rest of the season. Reich’s offenses have made fantasy tight ends stars in the past, and Sadiq has the tools to bring a high ceiling if he keeps getting targets. The Jets play the Bears, Browns, Patriots and Dolphins in the next four weeks, setting him up with a very favorable short-term schedule ahead.
