Week 2 kicks off with a juicy Thursday Night Football showdown between the Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills. Both teams won close games in Week 1 and are hopeful to make long runs into the postseason this year. While it’s still way to early to know anything for sure, there’s definitely the potential that this contest is a Super Bowl preview. Even if that ends up untrue, it should bring a nice playoff atmosphere to upstate New York, as the Bills open their brand new stadium. Can Josh Allen send the home fans home happy with another big game?
The Bills are 4.5-point favorites, with the Lions +190 underdogs on the moneyline. The points total is set at 44.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Below is my favorite Josh Allen prop bet on DraftKings Sportsbook for Thursday’s game.

Taking his team on the road to Houston in Week 1, Allen led the Bills to a 36-31 win over the Texans, with a late touchdown pass to Joshua Palmer and a forced fumble by Buffalo’s defense helping to seal the victory. Allen finished with 334 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, while running six times for 23 rushing yards with a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Both of his rushing touchdowns came in the second quarter, with a 21-yard scamper in the highlight below and a one-yard run later in the half.
Allen’s legs kept the game close, but his passing is what led the Bills’ late comeback. After a couple of field goals in the second half, Allen hit Palmer with a 34-yard strike with just under 2:00 left in the game for the final score of 36-31.
Allen will be in a more favorable Week 2 matchup against Detroit. The Lions are coming off a 31-30 overtime win over the Saints, but Tyler Shough threw for 410 yards and three touchdowns against their defense. Shough attempted 56 passes partly because of overtime, but even without that volume, Allen should find room to operate.
The Lions are coming off a 31-30 overtime win over the Saints, although Tyler Shough threw for 410 yards and three touchdowns against Detroit’s defense.
Allen will have a chance to show off the overhauled receiving corps with DJ Moore leading the way. Moore led the team with eight targets, finishing with five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown. Dalton Kincaid got off to a fast start, as well, with 130 receiving yards on his six targets.
The line on Allen’s passing yards is 253.5, and taking the over at -111 is a strong and relatively safe play. After his big Week 1, though, along with the Lions’ struggles, I’m ready to be even more aggressive on this prop. Allen to get to 300 yards for a second straight week is a juicy +269, but I’m more comfortable backing him to exceed 280 yards on Thursday.
