The Buffalo Bills are opening their new stadium in Week 2, hosting the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Buffalo is favored by 4.5 points and this game carries a total of 54.5 points.
Below, I break down my favorite DJ Moore prop bet for Thursday night’s matchup, focusing on his receiving yards line against the Lions.
DJ Moore Receiving Yards Prop Bet vs. Lions
DJ Moore 70+ Receiving Yards (+120)
Moore should be very familiar with his opponent on Thursday night, since he played against the Lions twice a season during his last three years with the Bears. He only had one catch for 11 yards the last time he faced them in January, but has had at least 68 receiving yards in seven of his previous eight matchups against them. Moore was also in a much smaller role with the Bears last year, with young pass-catchers Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III and Colston Loveland taking away opportunities.
The trade to the Bills this past offseason made Moore a clear No. 1 option once again, and should give him a good chance to get over 70 receiving yards in this matchup.
In his Bills debut, Moore had a 28.6% target share on 26 routes run. He caught five of his team-high eight targets for exactly 100 yards. His longest catch was a 43-yard touchdown score, but even without that big gain, he still would have had very solid production and been near this prop.
Moore excelled despite a tough matchup against a Texans’ secondary led by Derek Stingley Jr. in Week 1, but in Week 2, he has a more favorable matchup against the Lions. Detroit’s secondary gave up 182 receiving yards on 10 catches to Chris Olave, and another 69 receiving yards on seven catches to Devaughn Vele. Tyler Shough carved them up for 410 total passing yards in the overtime game.
In addition, starting CB D.J. Reed was limited in practice on Tuesday and could be less than 100%, although CB Christian Izien is trending towards being ready to make his Lions debut. Safeties Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch will remain sidelined, though, so the Lions secondary could still be vulnerable to Moore and his strong rapport with new QB Josh Allen.
The game will hopefully be a high-scoring contest with plenty of back-and-forth action, and if it is, it’s easy to see Moore going over this alternate receiving yards total, which comes at plus-money odds for Thursday Night Football.
