Matchweek 3 of the Premier League continues on Saturday as Manchester City host Coventry City. The Sky Blues are fresh off a commanding victory over Crystal Palace and have bolstered their squad with multiple late transfers, including Enzo Fernández and Iliman Ndiaye. Meanwhile, Coventry are still looking to pick up their first Premier League point in 25 years, but it won’t be an easy task this week.
Manchester City are massive -600 favorites on the moneyline for this game on DraftKings Sportsbook, with a draw available at +750. Think Coventry City can pull off the upset? They’re +1400 to pick up three points.
Manchester City vs. Coventry City Prediction, Pick
It’s hard to see this match going any other way than in favor of Manchester City, with Enzo Maresca’s side picking up three points convincingly. Maresca’s trademarked fluidity has translated seamlessly to this group of players, and their strength was only bolstered over the last few days. The arrival of Enzo Fernández will give Maresca a new locked-in midfielder, as the Argentinian should pair perfectly with Elliot Anderson in hybrid 6/8 roles. Iliman Ndiaye will give City another dynamic 1-on-1 winger who could ultimately compete with Antoine Semenyo and Phil Foden for the starting RW spot when Jeremy Doku returns.
Man City struggled out of the gates before coming back to defeat Bournemouth, but the outcome was never in doubt against Crystal Palace. Erling Haaland returned to his typical form and netted a brace, while Rayan Cherki was Man of the Match, also finding the back of the goal twice and flashing immense quality.
I expect Manchester City’s current form to carry over into Saturday’s clash with Coventry. The newly promoted side simply doesn’t have the talent to compete with what is now arguably the most talented team in the world. The Cityzens should win comfortably while Cherki keeps his goal contribution streak rolling and continues to solidify his case as the locked-in starting 10.
