The Los Angeles Dodgers, who hold the best record in baseball (55-30), are facing the Athletics in the second of a three-game series. The Dodgers won Game 1 of the series 9-4 and are 6-1 in their previous even contests. The Athletics are 40-45 on the season and are 3-7 in their last 10 games. In the last 10 games between these two teams, the Dodgers are 8-2 against the Athletics.

The Dodgers are having an unbelievable season, as they lead the league in team runs (452), batting average (.264), OBP (.346), SLG (.441), and OPS (.788). Tonight, the Dodgers have one of their best pitchers on the mound with Justin Wrobleski. This season, Wrobleski is second in the MLB in record (9-12), seventh in WHIP (1.01), and 12th in ERA (2.71). Wrobleski is going up against Jeffrey Springs, who has struggled for the Athletics this season. Springs is 307 with a 5.52 ERA. This season, Springs has allowed at least three runs in his last five starts.

After some success earlier in the season, the Athletics have hit a rough patch, going 5-10 in their previous 15 contests. The Athletics are 1-3 on their current Los Angeles road trip. Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman have led the Dodgers offense this season. Ohtani has 18 HRs, 50 RBIs, and is batting .298, while Freeman has a batting average of .290, 13 HRs, and 46 RBIs.
