Fallout of The Coin Flip
Episode 11 began back on the beach following the riskiest decision in Survivor history. Everyone’s heads were spinning after Devens put himself potentially back in the driver’s seat. Jonathan, specifically, was in scramble mode after losing another close ally, admitting it would be an uphill battle to climb out of this hole.
The next morning, Devens literally woke up dancing, heading to privacy to check out his idol. In an interesting twist, it was revealed that he would only be able to use it with seven or more players remaining. The general mood was jovial around camp, except for Jonathan… and Joe. The beef persists!
In an interesting turn of events, Cirie finally began thinking about taking out her closest allies, as Rizo and Ozzy both boast idols. To be clear, this would be down the line, not anytime particularly soon. While she mulled various different options, it set the stage for a resume-defining move.
Come For The Queen… You Better Not Miss
Filling in Emily Flippen on a potential game-changing move hasn’t proven to be the wisest decision, but that’s exactly what Devens did, floating out Cirie’s name as the obvious largest target left on the board.
This was a rare time we’ve really heard someone acknowledge how significant of a threat Cirie would be if she makes it to the end. The last occasion her name was thrown out, it trickled down to her and she shut it down immediately. Devens (and Emily) would have to be much more inconspicuous this time to pull it off.
Upon Further Review
Prior to a Survivor classic immunity challenge, Jeff hinted at yet another twist at the upcoming tribal council.
After Tiffany seemingly outlasted her fellow contestants, Jeff halted the production. After further review, Probst announced that she had actually not lifted her foot off the floating buoy by the necessary time, retroactively giving Jonathan a much-needed win.
Jeff then revealed the advantage he earned within the wild twist. The tribe was divided into two groups. Each squad would go to tribal separately and vote someone out, but Jonathan would be able to vote BOTH times.
The two groups were randomly drawn, turning out to be:
- Tiffany, Cirie, Emily, and Devens
- Rizo, Ozzy, Joe and Aubry
Back On The Beach(es)
In Cirie’s group, she and Jonathan began plotting instantly. Devens was the clear target, but his idol loomed large. Emily pitched the concept of convincing Devens to play it for her (only to blindside him) to the other three, but behind closed doors conferred with Rick once again about going after Cirie.
Moving to the other section of the beach, Ozzy was thrilled about his group. For whatever reason, he revealed his Day One alliance with Cirie, spilled the beans on her extra vote, and pretty much handed her his entire plan. Shockingly, Aubry, one of the craftiest players in Survivor history, took that edge and ran with it.
Meanwhile, Jonathan continued to go back and forth in pole position to drive both votes. He pitched an Ozzy blindside to Aubry, who was all in. Joe met him with more resistance. Once Rizo heard about the possible move, he was met with a conundrum… tip Ozzy off and save him, or hang him out to dry?
Two Tribals
The first group headed to tribal was Cirie and company. After extensively declaring that he would play his idol, Devens did exactly that. With only three players eligible to be eliminated remaining, Cirie saved herself with an extra vote. Emily’s bid at the blindside fell just short, and she was sent home.
Then, Aubry and the men took center stage, and the mental chess match began. Ozzy seemed to pick up on a weird vibe immediately and reminded everyone of his idol. Whether he would play it or not was yet to be seen. After the votes were cast, he opted NOT to play it. That plan backfired, and he was sent to the jury.
