Dancing With the Stars Season 35 Premiere Live Updates: Performances, Scores

Stay tuned for live updates after each performance in the DWTS Season 35 premiere!

And the First Elimination is…

Following all eight performances, Conner Leavitt and his pro partner Adele Zaikman were eliminated in the Season 35 premiere of Dancing With the Stars.

Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson

  • Dance: Cha Cha
  • Song: Let’s Groove by Earth, Wind & Fire
  • Judges’ scores: 21

We have a legitimate professional dancer, ladies and gentlemen. Harry Shum Jr. raised eyebrows for those in the know following his casting announcement, as he has extensive experience dancing in Step Up and Glee. So, the expectations were high, and Shum Jr. delivered in the Season 35 premiere. Harry moved like he knew what he was doing, and the judges recognized that. Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson are among the top contenders this season, and they finished with the highest score of the night.

Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart

  • Dance: Quickstep
  • Song: Tell Her About It by Billy Joel
  • Judges’ scores: 16

Taylor Hanson is no stranger to the stage, a veteran performer of three decades. However, he’s used to making the music, not dancing to it. Taylor’s stage presence certainly translated, but the judges were surprised by his proper technique! Hanson has the chance to make a real run in this competition.

Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold

  • Dance: Cha Cha
  • Song: I Like It, I Love It by Tim McGraw
  • Judges’ scores: 16

For someone who has never danced before, Connor Wood certainly has it! The judges agreed, his fluidity, timing and charisma stood out. Technique left a little room for improvement, but we have a potential dark horse here.

Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach

  • Dance: Tango
  • Song: Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson
  • Judges’ scores: 20

What a fantastic, composed performance from Ezra Frech to open the season. His stage presence was immaculate, and the judges clearly were impressed by the Paralympian gold medalist. We have our new leaders, as the duo cracked 20!

Guillermo Rodriguez and Witney Carson

  • Dance: Cha Cha
  • Song: Mr. Big Stuff by Jean Knight
  • Judges’ scores: 10

In the least surprising development of all time, everyone LOVES Guillermo. In the words of Derek Hough, “Was the technique there? No. Was the effort there? Absolutely!” An unforgettable opening performance from Guillermo garnered love from the judges and audience alike.

Conner Leavitt and Adele Zaikman

  • Dance: Salsa
  • Song: Whoomp! (There It Is) by Tag Team
  • Judges’ scores: 12

The love for the stage clearly passed from Whitney to Conner! The SLOMW star certainly brought the enthusiasm in his debut performance, but the judges felt his technique was lacking and their scores reflected that.

Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess

  • Dance: Tango
  • Song: Are You Gonna Go My Way by Lenny Kravitz
  • Judges’ scores: 17

Tyler was nervous about looking too robotic on the stage, but he was surprisingly fluid with natural rhythm. The judges pointed out a few correctable flaws but clearly saw the potential.

Jackson Olson and Emma Slater

  • Dance: Cha Cha
  • Song: Wannabe by the Spice Girls
  • Judges’ scores: 15

Unsurprisingly, a Savannah Banana has moves! Jackson brought the confidence you would expect from someone in his profession, and the judges were impressed. However, the scores were a little lower than Jackson and Emma were probably hoping for, as the judges want to leave clear room for improvement.

And We’re Off!

Season 35 of DWTS has officially begun following an electric opening number! Alfonso and Julianne introduced this year’s stacked cast and the new pros, and performances are set to begin shortly!
