If you were a reader of this weekly column last year, you know I’m all about punchy verbiage. Admittedly, dominate in this week’s title is just a pure fastball. Nothing fancy; no finesse. Just heat, run, competitive everything tossed into the arm. It gets right to the bones of things, which is the goal of Five Lists of Five. We’re not here to dilly-dally. We’re here to, as efficiently as possible, digest meaningful advanced statistics and opportunity metrics that give us a leg up on our leaguemates. On a week-to-week basis, this means capitalizing on matchups and fluctuating market value. For this preseason column, it means using last year’s entire sample size of data and film study, plus whatever organizational telling we’ve gotten from teams in the offseason, to set you all up with sleepers, unsung heroes, breakouts, and league-winners.
And let’s just roll back into the common refrain, shall we? All I want is for you to be better than your friends. You’re going to be surrounded by them on Sunday, probably. How sweet would it be if you could be sure you’ve checked every box possible that might guarantee you a resounding victory this week? Some kick-your-feet-up insights? I’ve got some.
I know my audience. The smoke-break audience. The quick-scan-of-the-phone-on-the-way-to-the-fridge audience. The give-me-as-much-info-as-possible-as-fast-as-possible audience. I’m a man of the people.
