In the never-ending Dexter saga, it was announced on Tuesday that Dexter: Resurrection would premiere on Friday, July 11, on Paramount+ with Showtime. After that, the show will premiere its on-air debut on Sunday, July 13th, and continue with weekly episodes. The announcement came with the first teaser for Dexter: Resurrection, seemingly poking fun at his supposed death from Dexter: New Blood. Watch below.
While details of Dexter: Resurrection are still scarce, the following excerpt was released about the show: “Weeks after Dexter Morgan (Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. But closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined — and that the only way out is together.”
One of my biggest gripes about Dexter: New Blood was the storyline with Batista not going anywhere. It felt as if we were going to get a huge confrontation between he and Dexter, but it never came to fruition. However, that won’t be the case in the new series. That alone could make for some excellent and gripping television, something the Dexter franchise has been missing since Dexter: Original Sin came along.
Dexter: Resurrection will include new cast members like Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian. Will you be tuning in to the newest version of Dexter in July?
