March 7, 3:13 p.m. ET: Trade between the Blackhawks and Hockey Club
CHI Blackhawks receive: D Victor Soderstrom, RW Aku Katy, D Shea Weber
UTA Hockey Club receive: 2026 6th round pick
Analysis: Shea Weber is 39 years old (I admittedly forgot he was still in the league) and the other two prospects have had very limited NHL action thus far. Chicago gave up a 6th round pick, so this trade was indeed not worthy of a post-deadline transaction.
March 7, 3:13 p.m. ET: Trade between the Senators and Sharks
OTT Senators receive: LW Fabian Zetterlund, C Tristen Robins, 2026 4th-round pick
SJ Sharks receive: C Zack Ostapchuk, LW Noah Gregor, 2025 2nd-round pick
Analysis: This is a pretty fantastic get for the Senators. Fabian Zetterlund is only 25 years old and has been a bright spot for the Sharks, totaling 36 points in 64 games this season. He is a bottom-six winger but has decent upside to climb up the ranks and play alongside Ottawa’s elite talent. San Jose showed promise at times but remains firm in it rebuild and continues to load up with prospects and draft picks.
March 7, 3:09 p.m. ET: Three-team trade between the Maple Leafs, Bruins and Penguins
TOR Maple Leafs receive: D Brandon Carlo
BOS Bruins receive: C Fraser Minten, 1st-round pick
PIT Penguins receive: D Conor Timmins, RW Connor Dewar
Analysis: The Bruins are blowing it all up. Sending Marchand and Brandon Carlo away to conference foes in consecutive moves within 10 minutes of each other sends a message to the league. Toronto addressed its center problem earlier today by trading for Laughton and now addressed the defensive holes by adding Carlo. Carlo played on the first line for Boston all season long and will likely slot into either the first or second pairing for the Maple Leafs moving forward. He is a solid defenseman that disrupts plays often and protects the net well. Fraser Minten is only a 20 year-old-prospect and was highly regarded by many Leafs fans. Both Conor Timmins and Connor Dewar will likely find themselves in bottom-four and bottom-six roles.
March 7, 3:08 p.m. ET: Trade between the Panthers and Bruins
FLA Panthers receive: LW Brad Marchand
BOS Bruins receive: 2027 2nd-round pick (conditional 2028 1st)
Analysis: Holy buzzer beater. Well, not really because it came after 3:00 p.m. but it is the second-biggest trade today behind Mikko Rantanen to Dallas. It’s hard to picture Brad Marchand in a jersey other than the Bruins but rebuild mode has snuck up on Boston. Florida, who was already deadly, now fields a filthy top-six. The Panthers are second in the Eastern Conference right now with 81 points and adding a veteran that can still pass and grind like Marchand only increases their chances of catching the Capitals for No. 1 seed.
March 7, 2:21 p.m. ET: Trade between the Penguins and Devils
PIT Penguins receive: 2026 3rd-round pick
NJ Devils receive: C/RW Cody Glass
Analysis: New Jersey recently lost Jack Hughes for the reason but adding Cody Glass into the mix doesn’t necessarily move the needle, especially on offense. Glass is a bottom-six defensive forward and while he was somewhat impressive with Pittsburgh this season, he won’t make much of an impact. Nonetheless, the Devils needed some forward depth and Glass does just that.
March 7, 2:13 p.m. ET: Trade between the Blackhawks and Red Wings
CHI Blackhawks receive: C Joe Veleno
DET Red Wings receive: G Petr Mrazek, RW Craig Smith
Analysis: Nothing breaking here by any means. Chicago recently acquired Spencer Knight from Florida, so Petr Mrazek’s departure makes sense. Perhaps Joe Veleno can carve out a bottom-six role, too, showcasing his defensive abilities from the forward position.
March 7, 2:03 p.m. ET: Trade between the Blue Jackets and Sharks
CBJ Blue Jackets receive: LW Luke Kunin
SJ Sharks receive: 2025 4th-round pick
Analysis: Columbus is very much in the mix for a playoff spot and is adding more firepower. Luke Kunin is 27 years old and doesn’t offer much offensive production but is a physical winger that crashes the net often. He will likely find a bottom-six role with Columbus for the remainder of the season and is a pending unrestricted free agent.
March 7, 2:00 p.m. ET: Trade between the Bruins and Avalanche
BOS Bruins receive: C Casey Mittelstadt, LW William Zellers, 2025 2nd-round pick
COL Avalanche receive: RW Charlie Coyle, 2026 5th-round pick
Analysis: As a Sabres fan, I’m a huge Casey Mittelstadt fan but he’s taken a significant step back this season. A fresh start will likely be good for him and Boston seems to be accepting its fate by moving on from some key players that have fueled the team’s success over the past few seasons. Mittelstadt is only 26 years old while Charlie Coyle is 33 years old but the trade makes sense for both sides. Boston adds much-needed youth and Colorado adds a veteran shoot-first center ahead of its playoff run.
March 7, 1:14 p.m. ET: Trade between the Hurricanes and Stars
CAR Hurricanes receive: RW Logan Stankoven, 2026 1st-round pick, 2027 1st-round pick, 2026 3rd-round pick, 2027 3rd-round pick
DAL Stars receive: RW Mikko Rantanen (sign-and-trade with 8-year, $12M AAV extension)
Analysis: Mikko Rantanen is on the move for the second time this season, and is set to make $12 million a year for the next eight years in Dallas. Many believe that Rantanen is a Nathan MacKinnon merchant because he has only posted six points in 13 games with the Hurricanes. Who knows? Perhaps another change of scenery and his fat wallet will make him play better. Nonetheless, Dallas is a very dangerous playoff team now. Hats off to the Hurricanes for securing this insane haul considering how bad the whole contract situation was to begin with. Logan Stankoven is in his second season and provides Carolina with more youth in its forward group.
March 7, 12:58 p.m. ET: Trade between the Maple Leafs and Flyers
TOR Maple Leafs receive: C Scott Laughton, 2025 4th-round pick, 2027 6th round pick
PHI Flyers receive: RW Nikita Grebenkin, conditional 2027 1st-round pick
Analysis: Same as always––a playoff team adding to its arsenal and a rebuilding team stockpiling draft picks. Scott Laughton is a solid middle-six center and won’t cost the Maple Leafs much money at all. The Flyers add a 21-year-old prospect and 1st-round pick in the process, although it feels as if they could’ve gotten a bigger haul.
March 7, 12:49 p.m. ET: Trade between the Jets and Kraken
WPG Jets receive: RW Brandon Tanev
SEA Kraken receive: 2027 2nd-round pick
Analysis: Winnipeg is loading up its depth for the playoffs, apparently. Brandon Tanev began his career in Winnipeg and has now returned at 33 years old. It’s possible he barely even sees a consistent role in the bottom-six but the Jets are clearly prioritizing veteran presences as they close in on the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
March 7, 12:44 p.m. ET: Trade between the Penguins and Jets
PIT Penguins receive: 2026 2nd-round pick, 2027 4th-round pick
WPG Jets receive: D Luke Schenn
Analysis: Luke Schenn finds himself on his third team this season after just being traded from the Predators to the Penguins on Wednesday. Those picks likely mean very little to Winnipeg and it adds a veteran defenseman who has appeared in 47 career playoff games.
March 7, 11:58 a.m. ET: Trade between the Flyers and Kings
PHI Flyers receive: 2027 3rd-round pick
LA Kings receive: LW Andrei Kuzmenko
Analysis: Andrei Kuzmenko is on the move for the second time this season and will join a Kings squad looking to secure a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Kuzmenko totaled five points in seven games with Philadelphia while playing on the second line and will likely slot into the third line with Los Angeles. He’s lost his scoring and finishing touch quite a bit but still offers near-elite craftiness when in tight spaces.
March 7, 11:08 a.m. ET: Trade between the Sabres and Senators
BUF Sabres receive: C Josh Norris and D Jacob Bernard-Docker
OTT Senators receive: C Dylan Cozens, D Dennis Gilbert, 2026 2nd-round pick
Analysis: Dylan Cozens’ upside and ceiling is very high and while he’s had a rough season, the change of scenery could be the difference. He had serious potential and it’s going to be difficult to find consistency when playing in Buffalo. Josh Norris offers a more unique skill set and overall speed but struggles to stay healthy and hasn’t necessarily put it all together at 25 years old. Jacob Bernard-Docker hasn’t seen the ice much but will likely slot into a starting role for Buffalo considering the state of the defensemen room. All in all, this trade is quite even and both squads could use some roster shuffling.
March 7, 11:07 a.m. ET: Trade between the Penguins and Capitals
PIT Penguins receive: 2025 2nd-round pick
WAS Capitals receive: LW Anthony Beauvillier
Analysis: Nothing much to break down here, admittedly. Anthony Beauvillier is a solid bottom-six forward and provides Washington with more depth as it heads into the postseason and looks to lock up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
March 7, 2:00 a.m. ET: Trade between the Sharks and Oilers
EDM Oilers receive: D Jake Walman
SJ Sharks receive: C Carl Berglund, 2026 conditional 1st-round pick
Analysis: Jake Walman will likely fit well in Edmonton’s system considering he’s an offensive defenseman and was quite impressive for being the No. 1 D-man on one of the worst teams in the league. He’s totaled 32 points in 50 games and will immediately slot into the top four for the Oilers. San Jose adds another prospect into its system and secures more first-round talent to invest in its future.
