A lifelong Lakers and Dodgers fan, Griffin’s favorite athlete of all time is Kobe Bryant. When he’s not writing, Griffin is usually skiing, running, golfing, or playing basketball — badly.
The Minnesota Vikings were largely written off before the season began after losing veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins in free agency and his replacement, rookie JJ McCarthy, to a torn ACL during the preseason. Then in stepped Sam Darnold, and under the tutelage of head coach Kevin O’Connell, Minnesota won 14 games. A 27-9 drubbing in […]

This week is Rivals Week in the NBA, which seeks to pit historic rivals against each other for high-profile battles on the hardwood to add some spice to a midseason stretch that might otherwise get a bit stale. Clearly, the intention of scheduling the Philadelphia 76ers to travel to the Mile High City to take […]

Saquon Barkley ($8,600) is the best running back in football. Saquon Barkley is inevitable. Saquon Barkley is a fantasy football cheat code. But is the Philadelphia Eagles star still good value when he costs $1,700 more than the second-priciest running back in a shallow pool of players where the average salary needs to be just […]

It’s been a rough first half of the season north of the border this season, as the Toronto Raptors have almost as many losses by 20-plus points (seven) as wins (10). Masai Ujiri is clearly posturing for a high lottery pick in a talented class that features a generational talent in Duke’s Cooper Flagg. While […]

This week is the NBA’s Rivals Week, where historic rivals from across the association take to the hardwood in battles for glory. Tonight, there will be a Subway Series between the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets, and…the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the Washington Wizards. Wait, what? Okay, it’s only the nationally-televised games that […]

You’d be forgiven if you hadn’t heard of anybody in the Utah Jazz’s likely starting lineup for today’s 8 p.m. ET clash against the New Orleans Pelicans: Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, Walker Kessler, Keyonte George, Cody Williams, and Isaiah Collier. With Jordan Clarkson, John Collins, Lauri Markkanen, and Collin Sexton all sidelined, the Jazz are stretched quite […]

After three shootouts to open the 2025 season, the PGA TOUR circuit will get a little tougher this week at the Farmers Insurance Open. While the five courses that hosted the season’s opening three tournaments regularly rank among the easiest on the PGA TOUR, this week’s host — Torrey Pines Golf Course (South) in San […]

UPDATE: Norman Powell (back) has been listed as questionable for tonight’s contest. Guess which team has the longest active win streak in the Western Conference? It’s not the conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder, who suffered a defeat to the Dallas Mavericks last Friday with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sidelined. Instead, it’s the 24-17 LA Clippers, who have won […]

In the latest cruel twist in a disappointing season for the Minnesota Timberwolves, guard Donte DiVincenzo has been ruled out indefinitely with a toe injury, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. Since he was acquired from the New York Knicks in the Karl-Anthony Towns blockbuster in October, DiVincenzo has been somewhat inconsistent, but he had started to […]

For the Memphis Grizzlies — who are third in the Western Conference — the face of the franchise is Ja Morant. Memphis will get at least one All-Star, and Morant — averaging 21.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game — would be a fine choice. But if it were up to me, the […]

The rematch of the century turned out to be a rematch to forget for the Cleveland Cavaliers, getting blown out by the Oklahoma City Thunder last Thursday. But as a great team does, Cleveland rebounded with a 124-117 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves to put it back on a 70-win pace and the edge in […]
