The New York Mets entered their series with the Texas Rangers as the top run scoring team on the road this season and will look to keep their bats hot in Arlington on Tuesday when they face the Texas Rangers.

Entering Monday, the Mets were averaging nearly 5.4 runs per game on the road compared to 3.8 runs per game at home, the biggest home and road run split differential among MLB teams.
Additionally, the Mets see their batting average go from .219 at home, which ranks 27th in the league, to .271 on the road, which is second among MLB teams.
Michael Lorenzen gets the start at pitcher for the Rangers and will look to continue to induce soft contact as he enters with a 2.86 ERA, and there’s signs of regression with a 4.71 fielding independent, allowing four walks and 1.1 home runs per nine innings while getting only 6.4 strikeouts per nine innings.
As for the Rangers offense, they are just 24th in the league in runs per game at home this season with 3.9 runs per game after leading the American League in runs and home runs per game in 2023.
Rookie Wyatt Langford’s return to the lineup at the beginning of June should help both on Tuesday and moving forward as they look to generate runs off of Mets starting pitcher Luis Severino.
Severino had found success pitching to contact, posting a career-low 6.9 strikeouts per nine innings, but has a 3.12 ERA after he had eight strikeouts per nine innings and a 6.65 ERA last season.
While Severino has been resurgent this season, his 3.92 fielding independent with 3.5 walks per nine innings points toward a fall off being on the horizon.
Both bullpens enter having had their issues too as the Mets entered Monday night 23rd in the league in bullpen ERA over the past 30 days with a 4.55 ERA while being 11th overall this season in bullpen ERA while the Rangers have a 4.67 bullpen ERA this season, which ranks 26th in baseball.
With a pair of starters that are issuing a lot of walks without a ton of strikeouts coupled with how many runs the Mets have scored on the road this season, what will be bigger in Texas on Tuesday will be these two teams’ run outputs in comparison to their averages.
