The NBA Finals kick off Thursday night!
In this article, I’m going to break down my favorite NBA player prop on DraftKings Sportsbook for Game 1 of Celtics-Mavericks. Without further ado, let’s get into it.

Boston Celtics vs. Dallas Mavericks — Game 1
Jayson Tatum Over 26.5 Points (-122)

No player has been criticized more throughout the 2024 NBA Playoffs than Jayson Tatum, despite his team only dropping two games up until this point while he puts up very respectable numbers.
In the Eastern Conference Semis against Cleveland, Tatum became the only player besides LeBron James since 1974 to lead all players in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks in a playoff series. He followed up that historic performance by averaging over 30 points per game in the Conference Finals against Indiana.
That said, virtually every day it seems like people find a new reason to criticize Boston’s best player. Now, he finally gets the opportunity to quiet the doubters once and for all.
Tatum’s last trip to the Finals a couple years ago didn’t exactly go as planned. The superstar dealt with a serious wrist injury throughout the series and underwhelmed as a result. However, he’s entering these Finals in much better health and form overall.
It’s also worth noting that Tatum has absolutely dominated the Mavericks lately. Over his last four games against Dallas, he’s averaged a whopping 34.3 points and 11.5 rebounds. I expect him to be eager to start this series on a high note, and if he maintains his recent form, racking up at least 27 points should be very doable.
