Best NHL Player Props for November 6
Charlie Coyle 1+ Point (+100)
The last time Coyle faced the Sabres, he racked up three assists in Columbus’ 6-3 win on Oct. 1. The 34-year-old has recorded a point in eight of his 14 outings this season, including a four-point night against Colorado on Tuesday, and his 1.72 primary assists per 60 rank 14th among 584 skaters with at least 100 minutes of ice time.
Coyle skates on the Blue Jackets’ third line, but he’s also on the top power-play unit, and four of his 13 points have come with the man advantage. That should be a big edge against a Buffalo penalty kill that ranks 27th (69.8%). His line with Cole Sillinger and Mathieu Olivier has controlled 56.2% of the 5v5 xGoals in 103 minutes together, so even money on a playmaker with this kind of role is worth the play.
Matt Boldy 1+ Assist (-130)
San Jose has allowed 3.87 xGoals against per 60 this season, the most of any team, and that number has climbed to 3.95 over its past 10 games. Minnesota’s top line should feast, as the Boldy-Eriksson Ek-Kaprizov line has controlled 67.2% of the 5v5 xGoals and outscored opponents 14-0 across 182 minutes together.
Boldy has notched an assist in seven of his past 10 games, and the 25-year-old is often on the ice for plenty of chances. Among skaters with at least 100 minutes of ice time, he ranks third in both on-ice xGoals for per 60 (6.00) and on-ice high-danger unblocked attempts for per 60 (6.70). The -130 price isn’t ideal, but he racked up 43 assists last season, and his setup chances should be there against the Sharks.
Matt Coronato 1+ Assist (+120)
Anaheim is on the second night of a back-to-back after playing in Edmonton last night, and its defense has been leaky even when rested. The Ducks have allowed the most 5v5 xGoals against per 60 over their past 10 games (3.12). Lukas Dostal should draw the start with an .872 SV% and 3.56 GAA, and his +0.2 GSAx and +0.04% SV% above expected both rank 29th among 74 goaltenders.
Coronato’s 11 assists lead the Flames, and he picked up two of them against the Ducks on Oct. 10. He has been held off the scoresheet in each of the past three games, but the 23-year-old skates on Calgary’s top line and first power-play unit, and seven of his 14 points have come on the power play. Anaheim’s penalty kill ranks T-22nd (73.8%), too, so there’s value in backing Coronato at plus money.
