The Reds have won all three of their matches so far by a combined total of 12 goals to seven. They currently are fourth in the table but a win on Wednesday would guarantee that Liverpool will sit at least fourth in the league phase table after matchweek four, although they could also improve their position depending on other results. The Reds have finished third and first in the first two seasons of the league phase being implemented and look to be on a similar trajectory this season.
After narrowly missing out on the Turkish title last season, Fenerbahce are off to a slow start in the new campaign. They are sixth in the Turkish league and are winless through three games in the Champions League. They’ve already played two games in front of their home fans in the UCL, drawing both to Roma and Slavia Prague. Now their biggest test comes to town and I’m not sure they will be able to meet the challenge. Let’s not forget that their lone away match in this competition this season was a 6-0 thrashing from fellow English side Aston Villa. Fenerbahce find themselves in 31st place heading into this one.
While I don’t see this one being quite as ugly as that Aston Villa result, I do think the Reds will win comfortably. In all three of Liverpool’s league phase wins this season, three or more goals were scored. In two of Fenerbahce’s disappointing results, three or more goals were netted. Expect the Reds to secure another three points on Wednesday.
