Best NHL Player Props for November 3
Leon Draisaitl 2+ Points (+140)
New Jersey’s penalty kill ranks T-26th at 70.0%, and that’s a mismatch against an Edmonton power play that ranks third at 32.7%. Draisaitl has six power-play goals and 10 power-play points through 15 games, and he has recorded multiple points in seven of his past 10 outings, including two assists in each of the weekend’s wins over the Islanders and Rangers. He enters Tuesday night with 28 points, second on the Oilers behind Connor McDavid.
Draisaitl also leads Edmonton with 12 goals, 53 shots and 8.1 xGoals, and the Oilers have controlled 72.9% of the xGoals with him on the ice. He centers the top line between McDavid and Vasily Podkolzin, a trio that has controlled 62.0% of the 5v5 xGoals and outscored opponents 18-6 in 187 minutes. Connor Hellebuyck projects to start for the Devils after winning both of his starts with a .923 SV% and 1.50 GAA, and his +0.5 GSAx and +0.65% SV% above expected rank 28th and 17th, respectively, among 74 goalies.
Quinn Hughes 3+ Shots on Goal (+110)
Philadelphia has allowed 29.8 shots per game, the sixth-most in the NHL, and its 44.0% 5v5 Corsi% ranks 30th. Defensemen have been a big part of that volume, with the Flyers giving up 7.8 shots on goal per game to the position, tied for the 10th-most in the league.
Hughes has put at least three shots on goal in seven of his past 10 outings, averaging 2.8 shots per game over that stretch, and his 47 shots lead all of Minnesota’s defensemen. He averages 27:44 of ice time on the top pair with Jonas Brodin and runs the first power-play unit, where he has totaled eight power-play points. The Wild generate 30.8 shots per game, the third-most in the NHL, so I’d expect the volume to be there again.
Emmitt Finnie 1+ Point (+120)
Detroit is playing the second night of a back-to-back after Monday’s 5-3 win in Florida, and Finnie scored in that game for his third goal across his past four outings. He has a point in four straight games and in eight of his past 10, and his seven goals are tied with Alex DeBrincat for second on the Red Wings behind Viktor Arvidsson. Finnie’s 2.4 goals above expected also lead the team.
He centers the top line between Arvidsson and DeBrincat, plays on the first power-play unit and averages 18:04 of ice time, and Detroit has controlled 59.6% of the 5v5 xGoals with him on the ice. Andrei Vasilevskiy is expected to start for Tampa Bay with an .877 SV% and 3.00 GAA, and his -2.8 GSAx and -0.55% SV% above expected rank 57th and 47th, respectively, among 74 goalies. The Lightning sport a perfect 6-0-0 record at home, but their .870 team SV% leaves some room for Detroit to build off its win last night and continue to produce.
