Best NHL Anytime Goal Scorer Picks for October 29

Ryan O’Reilly Anytime Goal Scorer (+195)

Washington is on the second night of a back-to-back after beating Philadelphia 5-2 on Wednesday, and that sets up well for a Nashville forward who has been scoring often. O’Reilly has found the back of the net in six of his past 10 games, including a two-goal effort in Sunday’s 6-2 win over Colorado and another tally on Tuesday against the Islanders. Both of Sunday’s goals came on the power play, where Nashville converts at 31.7%, the third-best rate in the NHL, and O’Reilly is a main piece on the top unit.

Charlie Lindgren is expected to start for the Capitals with an .886 SV% and 2.98 GAA, and he has turned in just one quality start in three appearances. Washington has also allowed 3.53 xGoals against per 60, the fourth-most in the NHL. O’Reilly is skating 21:10 a night between Steven Stamkos and Mavrik Bourque, and his seven goals are tied with Stamkos for the team lead.

Kirill Kaprizov Anytime Goal Scorer (-110)

Kaprizov leads the NHL with 14 goals through 14 games, and he has scored in eight of his past 10 outings, including three straight. He sports a blistering 29.2% shooting percentage, and four of his goals have come on the power play. His 2.12 xGoals per 60 rank first among skaters with at least 100 minutes of ice time, and he has outscored that mark with 14 goals on 10.76 xGoals. Kaprizov averages 21:43 of ice time on Minnesota’s top line with Joel Eriksson Ek and Matt Boldy and plays on the first power-play unit.

This isn’t the softest matchup on paper, as the Islanders have allowed just 2.58 goals per game, the fifth-fewest in the NHL, and Ilya Sorokin is projected to start with a .919 SV%. However, New York has allowed 3.38 xGoals against per 60, the 10th-most in the league, so its goaltending has been covering for a defense that gives up quality chances. Kaprizov has nine more goals than any of his teammates, and Minnesota’s offense runs through him.

Logan Stankoven Anytime Goal Scorer (+230)

Columbus has had trouble limiting quality chances, allowing 3.43 xGoals against per 60, and Carolina leads the league with 33.6 shots per game. Stankoven is one of the Hurricanes’ most dangerous shooters, generating 1.72 xGoals per 60, which ranks fifth among skaters with at least 100 minutes of ice time.

He’s been cashing in lately as well, scoring in three of his past four outings, and his eight goals are tied with Sebastian Aho for the team lead. Jet Greaves is the expected starter tonight in goal for Columbus after posting an .883 SV% and just one quality start in five starts, making Stankoven the best value of the three picks at +230.
