What happened in Dexter: Resurrection Season 1
The first season of Dexter: Resurrection picked up where Dexter: New Blood ended. After believing that Dexter was dead, Resurrection began with him waking up from a 10-week coma and trying to regain strength to return to his former self. Dexter then made his way to New York City, where his son, Harrison, was living. Although it took time, Dexter rebuilt his relationship with Harrison, and the two seem closer than ever.
Early in the first season of Resurrection, Dexter went after serial killer Ronald Schmidt. Before killing him, Dexter found out Schmidt was invited to a group for serial killers. Dexter began acting as Schmidt and attended dinners with the group led by billionaire Leon Prater. Eventually, Prater found out Dexter was pretending to be Schmidt.
Batista returned to convince Prater and Detectives Claudette Wallace and Melvin Oliva of Dexter’s true identity. Prater wanted Dexter to kill Batista, but when he refused, Prater shot Batista. Harrison helped his father by using Dexter’s signature needle to put Prater to sleep. In the end, Dexter had Prater in plastic wrap on a table before he killed him. Season 1 of Resurrection ended with Dexter riding off in Prater’s yacht in the New York Harbor.
What to expect in Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection
The description on the Paramount+ website states, “Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 furthers the bloody saga of Dexter Morgan, introduces us to The New York Ripper and The Five Borough Killer, and marks the return of Charley, last seen with her frail mother as they apparently drove out of New York City.”
From the trailer and the description, it appears the main three antagonists for Dexter this season are the New York Ripper, the Five Borough Killer, and Charley. Dexter’s former colleague Joey Quinn is slated to be involved this season, which could see him play the role Angel Batista did in Season 1 of Dexter: Resurrection. Detectives Claudette Wallace and Melvin Oliva investigated Dexter last season alongside Batista, and it will be interesting to see if they are still on to Dexter after Batista died.
