Jordan Addison Start or Sit Advice for Week 4

The undefeated Minnesota Vikings are looking to move to 4-0 with a win on Sunday against the struggling Miami Dolphins. They have one more game in Week 5 against the Saints before a Week 6 bye. While Justin Jefferson (ankle) will miss this week’s game, there is still hope that he will return against New Orleans. For this week, though, Jordan Addison will have a chance to step-up as the Vikings’ No. 1 WR. Should you start Addison in your fantasy football lineups, as well, or is he still too high-risk even with the added work? Let’s take a look at what to expect from Addison in this home matchup on Sunday.

Addison has played 95% of snaps this season for the Vikings, including a season-high 98% of snaps in Week 3 when Jefferson left with his injury. He clearly became the go-to option for Kyler Murray and caught five of his nine targets for 90 yards and a touchdown.

Addison played a much smaller role in the first two weeks of the season. In fact, in Week 1, he didn’t have a single catch on just two targets. He caught two of his five targets in Week 2 for 21 yards against the Bears in a bad-weather game, and then he finally broke out for 20 FPTS in that win against the Bucs.

After the game, Kyler Murray called Addison a “baller” and said he is “honestly just trying to get him as many targets as possible.” Addison’s fantasy managers are definitely hopeful that Kyler lives up to that promise this week!

The Dolphins will be a good matchup for Addison in Week 4 without Jefferson. Last week, Rashee Rice had 88 yards for the Chiefs against Miami, and the 49ers receivers combined for 137 yards the previous week. The only downside to the matchup for Addison is that the Vikings could open up a big lead early and lean more on the running game when playing from ahead.

However, coach Kevin O’Connell usually stays aggressive enough to still be pass-forward and involve his stars. In his career, Addison has played seven games without Jefferson, producing 35 catches for 437 yards and four touchdowns. With Murray focused on getting him the ball, and plenty of big-play ability, Addison can be a strong WR3 or FLEX play in Week 4, and he can even be a WR2 if you’re in a roster squeeze.

Addison will also likely be a popular value play in DFS contests like the NFL $2.75M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st] this week. His salary is only $5,300, and since he should operate as the team’s No. 1 WR, he could bring outstanding value at that price.
