The Main Event of tonight’s Dana White’s Contender Series card is a Lightweight contest between Loai Abushaar and George Staines. Staines, 26, is 8-0 with three finishes, while Abushaar enters this contest with a 7-1 record and a 100 percent finish rate. DWCS takes place at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, and begins at 7:00 p.m. ET on Paramount+.

George Staines to Win by KO/TKO/DQ or Submission (-105)

Staines is an impressive prospect, having recorded 10 victories in the first three years of his professional MMA career. He has competed in two elite European promotions, Cage Warriors and Oktagon. His first six pro fights took place in Oktagon while his last four were in Cage Warriors. Staines is from England and trains at Next Generation MMA Liverpool, where UFC fighters Paddy Pimblett and Luke Riley also train. 

Abushaar comes from a well-known gym, MMA Lab in Arizona. Head Coach John Crouch has worked with many UFC fighters in the past, including Benson Henderson, Mackenzie Dern, Jared Cannonier, and Mario Bautista. Abushaar has started 2026 2-0 with two finishes, with his most recent one coming against Alejandro Quero in April. 

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Staines is the favorite at -355 with Abushaar as a +280 underdog. The over/under is set at 1.5 rounds, with the over at -130 and the under at +100. This contest is +165 to go the distance and -220 to end early. In this fight, Abushaar is three inches taller than Staines (6’4″ vs. 6’1″).

Although Staines is 26 and only eight fights into his professional career, he had an extensive amateur career. Staines went 18-1 as an amateur. Although this is a close DWCS Main Event matchup between two versatile fighters, I give the edge to Staines. Staines has trained with elite UFC Lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett, which should make him well prepared for this bout. Early in his career, Staines wasn’t super aggressive, but he’s changed that. Staines has won two of his last three fights by finish.
