Adonai Mitchell receiving yards pick vs. Lions
AD Mitchell is off to a strong start with Geno Smith under center for the Jets. The former second-round pick out of Texas never really caught on with the Colts, but has a larger opportunity with the Jets. The stability at QB has helped him early in 2026. Mitchell brought in all three of his targets at Tennessee in Week 1 for 60 yards, and aparently built strong trust with Smith. Geno then targeted him 12 times in Week 2 against the Packers and Mitchell finished with six receptions for 63 yards.
Now the Jets are road dogs playing indoors against a Detroit secondary that’s given up 658 passing yards this season. The Lions remain dinged up on defense, and the game script sets up for New York to be throwing the ball in order to keep up with a high-powered passing offense.
New Orleans had three pass catchers go for 54 or more yards in Week 1, including 182 from Chris Olave. Devaughn Vele finished with a 7-69-1 line as the WR2 in that game, which is where Mitchell slots in. Despite piling up over 200 rushing yards in Week 2 against the Lions in a game the Bills led wire-to-wire, Buffalo had two pass catchers go for 63 or more yards. Keon Coleman finished that one with a 6-63-0 line.
Mitchell is dealing with a finger injury he likely suffered in practice on Thursday, but assuming he gets the green light on Sunday, this is a great matchup and spot for him to continue his success.
