Cam Skattebo Touchdown Scorer Pick for Giants vs. Rams

Last season, Cam Skattebo took the NFL by storm, amassing 617 total yards in just eight games (five starts) before going down with a severe ankle injury. There were some questions of how he’d look in the 2026 season, given the gruesome nature of his injury and his physical playing style.

Skattebo answered most of those in the New York Giants’ Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys, and he’ll have another chance to grace the national spotlight during tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, the preseason Super Bowl favorite. The game is set to begin at 8:15 p.m. ET tonight at SoFi Stadium.

New York is a 6.5-point underdog for tonight’s game at DraftKings Sportsbook (+235 on the Moneyline), with the point total set to 47.5. Los Angeles is -290 on the Moneyline.

Below, I’ll break down Skattebo’s touchdown scorer prop for tonight’s showdown.

Skattebo found the back of the end zone in each of his final three starts of the 2025 season, scoring in five of his eight games overall. He wasted no time scoring again in Week 1, taking a handoff around the left tackle untouched for a three-yard score and punctuating his return with a signature flip. Overall, he showed no signs of his injury, playing more than three-fifths of the Giants’ offensive snaps and taking 18 carries for 81 yards. It’s unclear how much of a role Tyrone Tracy Jr. will have after losing a fumble in Week 1, and Najee Harris will likely be eased in after recovering from a torn Achilles tendon.

It’s early, but the returns have been impressive. Skattebo finished as the 12th-best running back among 59 qualified backs last season, and he ranks 22nd of 58 qualified backs so far in 2026. He ranks fifth in rushing yards over expectation per attempt among all backs with 10 or more carries through the first two weeks of the season, and it’s clear that Matt Nagy has total faith in him. In Week 1, the Giants took seven snaps inside the 20-yard line, and four were rushes by Skattebo. Most of the players who have attracted a higher share of their team’s red zone rushing attempts are more established stars like former Offensive Player of the Year Derrick Henry and reigning Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III.

Meanwhile, the Rams have a strong run defense on paper, as they allowed the fewest rushing touchdowns in the league in 2025, but on a per-play basis, they were more gettable, ranking just 17th by yards per attempt. The San Francisco 49ers were clearly unafraid in Week 1, gashing Los Angeles for 174 yards on 30 attempts as both Christian McCaffrey and rookie Kaelon Black had big games. Skattebo is no McCaffrey, but as an undersized, dual-threat bruiser, he could be capable of approximating his role. The Rams didn’t allow any rushing touchdowns in Week 1, but that’s in large part because the 49ers didn’t need to get down to goal line to score, recording two 15-plus-yard touchdowns.

It’s easy to overreact to a one-game sample size, and it’s likely that Los Angeles will look better than it did at Melbourne Cricket Ground, but given the Rams’ mediocrity against the run on a per-play basis last season, Skattebo’s sheer willpower and strength, and the absences of Myles Garrett and Kamren Kinchens, it’s worth backing Skattebo to find paydirt. Aaron Donald is back after a two-season absence, but his Hall of Fame skillset will likely be more of a factor later in the season, once he’s re-acquainted himself with the speed of the NFL game and isn’t limited to 30 snaps. Donald’s return alone wouldn’t be enough to dissuade me from picking Skattebo to score.
