Prediction, pick for Tim Elliott vs. Edgar Chairez at Noche UFC

Prediction, pick for Tim Elliott vs. Edgar Chairez at Noche UFC

By: Cooper Albers

It’s going down at 125 pounds on Saturday night, as Tim Elliott takes on Edgar Chairez at Noche UFC: Silva vs. Delgado in Glendale, Arizona.

Elliott (22–14–1, 10–12 UFC) looks to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Steve Erceg in May, which snapped a two-fight win streak. Chairez (14–6, 4–2 UFC [1 NC]) has won three straight bouts, punctuated by a first-round submission victory against Bruno Silva in June.

Chairez enters as a -218 moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. Elliott is a +180 underdog, with the fight total set at O/U 2.5 rounds.

Elliott vs. Chairez Preview

Tim Elliott (#12)

  • 22–14–1 (10–12 UFC)
  • 3–1 (T)KO
  • 8–6 SUB

The oldest flyweight on the active roster isn’t down for the count just yet. The grizzled Tim Elliott will make his 23rd trip to the Octagon on Saturday night, leaning on his unmatched experience and formidable offensive grappling.

Even at 39, Elliott remains a sneaky veteran who can give rising prospects a run for their money. The Wichita native’s latest win in August 2025 came in the form of a second-round submission victory against former title challenger Kai Asakura. Now facing another promising talent in Edgar Chairez, Elliott will look to defend his ranking and fend off Father Time for at least one more night.

Edgar Chairez

  • 14–6 (4–2 UFC [1 NC])
  • 4–0 (T)KO
  • 9–2 SUB

In a word, Edgar Chairez is dangerous. The Mexican contender pairs fast, powerful hands with a lethal ground game and enters Saturday night with a 93 percent finish rate.

“Puro Chicali,” 30, put his dynamic stoppage prowess on full display earlier this year with his third straight victory. Facing the 36-year-old Bruno Silva, Chairez landed a pair of knockdowns before cinching a rear-naked choke for the first-round submission win — and a Performance of the Night bonus. The outing extended his impressive run since joining the UFC, his only losses coming against ex-title challenger Tatsuro Taira and current champion Joshua Van.

Returning to the Noche UFC stage, Chairez is eyeing another statement performance that vaults him into the flyweight top 15.

Elliott vs. Chairez Pick, Best Bet

Last time out, Edgar Chairez put on a show against the second-oldest fighter at 125 pounds (36). Now, he faces an opponent who’s three years older than that.

While Tim Elliott is a respectable veteran, he’ll likely struggle to impose his game plan on Saturday night. “Puro Chicali” poses a serious threat on the feet and on the ground, and he’s equipped with a considerable five-inch reach advantage. Given just how much mileage Elliott has accrued in his career, Chairez seems poised to pad his gaudy finish rate with another stoppage win in Glendale.

Best Bet: Edgar Chairez by KO/TKO/DQ or Submission (+130)
