A 15-game, 30-team MLB slate is on tap for Friday. For those looking to cash in quickly on a bet, nothing makes more sense than an NRFI. With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look on Friday?

Red Sox vs. Orioles NRFI (-120)
Ranger Suarez will be on the bump tonight in Boston, making his 25th start of the season. It’s been a decent Beantown debut for the southpaw, among the team’s top arms. Over 123.2 innings, he’s recorded a 3.64 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 118 strikeouts (8.7 K/9). Granted, he’s coming off of a disastrous six-run performance in New York. However, Suarez has proven to be a decent first inning pitcher at the very least. He’s notched an 84% NRFI rate since 2025, holding opponents scoreless in the first for six straight games coming into Friday. In comparison, Baltimore’s batters have put up an American League-worst 21.74% YRFI rate at home.
As for the Orioles, it’ll be Shane Baz on the bump this evening. Through 157.0 innings of work, the righty has produced a 4.01 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 139 strikeouts (8.0 K/9). If nothing else, the 27-year-old has been consistent. He’s held opponents to three earned runs or less in ten of his last 11 appearances. That includes a six-inning, one-run showing vs. Boston on July 20th. Baz has allowed a first inning run only once over his last ten games. As for the Red Sox, their 20.83% YRFI rate on the road is fourth-worst in the majors. Hitting at spacious Camden Yards probably won’t do this group many favors tonight.
Yankees vs. Padres NRFI (-135)
Max Fried, despite dealing with his fair share of injuries, remains one of baseball’s best starters. He’s posted a 2.80 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 83 strikeouts (8.3 K/9) during 90.0 innings pitched (16 starts). The former All-Star has been terrific as of late, allowing a combined four runs over his last four outings (1.33 ERA). Fried will look to keep the good times rolling tonight against a struggling Padres lineup. San Diego has scored 59 runs over its last 15 contests, seventh-worst in the league during that stretch. In addition, the Friars have accounted for an MLB-worst 21.74% YRFI rate at home.
Make no mistake: Walker Buehler is a far cry from his former self. Once a borderline ace with the Dodgers, it’s been a difficult few seasons for the ninth-year pro. However, he remains a decent innings eater at the very least. Through 131.1 frames ( starts), the veteran has a 4.66 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 111 strikeouts (7.6 K/9). He’s also been fairly effective over the past month. During Buehler’s last five starts, he’s spun a 2.67 ERA. On the other side, New York has been a disappointment at the plate in the absence of Aaron Judge (rib). The Yankees have a 23.61% YRFI rate on the road, seventh-worst in the big leagues.
