Seattle Mariners vs. Minnesota Twins prediction, pick for MLB on Sunday 8/02/26

Minnesota and Seattle reach Sunday’s rubber match after splitting the series’ first two games. The Twins won Friday 5-3 before Seattle answered with Saturday’s 4-3 walk-off. Minnesota enters 56-56 after winning seven of 10, while Seattle stands 54-58 following a 3-7 stretch. The Mariners have scored only 447 runs, the American League’s second-lowest total. Their pitching staff has allowed 445, leaving Seattle two games below .500 despite a positive differential. Minnesota has scored 526 runs, although Byron Buxton’s hip injury negates its most explosive combination of speed and power. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for today’s baseball game between the Seattle Mariners and the Minnesota Twins.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Mariners vs. Twins prediction, preview

Taj Bradley carries a 9-4 record, 3.65 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 139 strikeouts through 120 2/3 innings. His 27.6% strikeout rate ranks comfortably above average, while his 3.82 xERA closely supports the surface results. Bradley struck out 10 across six innings against Kansas City during his latest start. He allowed two runs, three hits, and three walks. George Kirby owns a 3.98 ERA, 3.64 FIP, 3.91 xERA, and .306 xwOBA through 120 innings. His 5% walk rate and 16.5% K-BB rate create exceptional inning stability, even after his strikeout rate declined to 21.5%.

Bradley’s contact profile introduces more risk than his ERA suggests. Opponents have generated a 91.1 mph exit velocity, 45.5% hard-hit rate, 9.9% barrels, and 37.6% sweet spots. Seattle possesses enough concentrated power to punish those mistakes through Julio Rodríguez, Dominic Canzone, Randy Arozarena, Josh Naylor, and Cal Raleigh. However, the Mariners own a .229/.309/.378 team line and average 3.99 runs. Minnesota carries a stronger .244/.318/.407 line with 132 homers. Trevor Larnach, Ryan Jeffers, Josh Bell, Royce Lewis, and Brooks Lee remain dangerous, but Buxton’s absence substantially lowers the lineup’s ceiling against Kirby.

Kirby’s expected statistics provide the market’s strongest under argument. His actual .331 wOBA allowed sits 25 points above his .306 xwOBA. Opponents have produced a .401 xSLG, 89.7 mph exit velocity, and 7.5% barrels. His sweeper has held hitters to a .348 xSLG and .268 xwOBA with a 30.5% strikeout rate. Minnesota’s greatest counterargument arrives after the starters leave. The Twins rank 26th with a 4.82 bullpen ERA, while Seattle ranks fourth at 3.52. Minnesota relievers allowed Saturday’s tying and winning runs, continuing their season-long late-inning instability.

Twins vs. Mariners pick, best bet

T-Mobile Park strengthens both starting profiles and removes weather volatility beneath the closed roof. Seattle has gone 31-24 at home, where its pitching carries an offense producing modest traffic and inconsistent damage. J.P. Crawford, Luke Raley, and Brendan Donovan remain unavailable, thinning the Mariners’ on-base ability around their central power hitters. Seattle also used Andrés Muñoz for four outs Saturday, although he threw only 18 pitches. Minnesota used Andrew Morris for the final two innings. His 30-pitch workload likely removes one of its better relievers from Sunday’s available group.

Seven creates a narrow wager, but the push carries considerable value. Minnesota’s first two series games produced eight and seven runs despite facing weaker starting combinations. Bradley and Kirby represent a substantial Sunday upgrade. Their combined 24.6% strikeout rate should reduce extended rallies, especially against depleted lineups. Kirby’s command makes Minnesota unlikely to receive free baserunners, while Bradley can overpower Seattle’s weaker lower third. The Twins’ bullpen prevents a larger investment, but Seattle’s offensive limitations still support the full-game under. A first-five under 3.5 also deserves consideration at plus money.

Best bet: Under 7 (-102), playable through -110

Projected score: Mariners 3, Twins 2

Best bet: Mariners vs. Twins u7.0 total runs (+100)
