Weird things happen before the MLB trade deadline. Nationals first baseman Luis Garcia Jr. was abruptly pulled for a pinch-hitter in Friday’s game against the Atlanta Braves with left knee soreness.
This time of year, eyebrows were raised concerning his trade status. Garcia Jr. is having a career year for the Nats, smashing 23 home runs with 76 RBIs. But it would seem this was just an injury concern, and that no trade notification is coming.
Since Garcia Jr. left after his third at-bat, he will not be eligible for DraftKings Early Exit.
