Kansas City Royals right fielder Jac Caglianone exited Tuesday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants due to injury.
Caglianone laid out in right field to attempt to prevent Giants catcher Jesus Rodriguez from getting a base hit in the top of the fifth inning. Soon after, Caglianone was forced to make a throw to home plate. When the Royals came out for the top of the sixth, Caglianone was replaced by Isaac Collins. Before leaving the game, the Royals slugger was 0-for-2 with a strikeout.
The 23-year-old Caglianone has been having a great season for the Royals. The youngster has 16 home runs and a 120 OPS+ while providing solid defense in right field. With the Royals well outside the playoff picture, they won’t hesitate to be cautious with one of their core young pieces if he’s banged up.
