Boston Celtics vs. Sacramento Kings (8pm ET)
The Celtics (2-1) will face the Kings (1-2) in the fourth and finale contest of the Las Vegas Summer League regular season for both teams, prior to the playoffs taking place over the weekend. Neither team has a shot at the playoffs, so this game should be strictly about developing prospects.
Sacramento got blown out by the Nets on Tuesday, and now have to compete on the second leg of a back-to-back. Not only have the Kings played their big-name prospects for three games in Las Vegas, but they also played the majority of the California Classic in a prior Summer League. In other words, Darius Acuff and this young core have gotten plenty of run together by now, and the organization has to be highly considering shutting them down.
It’s easier to be a bit more optimistic about the Boston side of this game when it comes to putting talent on the floor. The Celtics won both of their games at full strength on Friday over the Raptors and Sunday over the Hornets. They played a back-to-back on Monday against the Hawks and lost, but rested their 2025 Draft Picks in Hugo Gonzalez and Amari Williams.
While Gonzalez and Williams could be shutdown for the rest of their time in Vegas, Boston has not yet announced that decision, so we could see them on the floor on Wednesday against the Kings. But the rest of the roster for the Celtics has been impressive thus far, including the 2026 Draft Picks in Chris Cenac and Dillon Mitchell.
John Tonje and Milos Uzan have also been terrific in the backcourt for Boston through three games in Vegas. It seems like the news should break towards the Celtics having both a talent and motivation advantage in this game, so I’ll back the C’s as a short favorite.
