First Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets for Eagles vs. Commanders on Sunday Night Football

I’ve got some good news and I’ve got some bad news.

First, the bad news: The injury-ravaged Eagles are once again playing an island game in Week 8, this time on Sunday Night Football against the Commanders. But, it’s the last time we’ll all be forced to watch Philadelphia and only Philadelphia until Thanksgiving. That’s the good news.

Let’s break down the first touchdown scorer odds on the DraftKings Sportsbook for this long time division rivalry. Let’s also make a couple picks.

Eagles vs. Commanders First Touchdown Scorer Picks

Makai Lemon First TD Scorer (+1700)

While the Eagles’ depth chart is currently a mess of injuries, it’s at least a mess that has clarity. Despite missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday, we know Saquon Barkley (+650) is good to go. We also know, for a fact, that DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) have been ruled out. So where does that leave us? Well, Barkley is properly priced as by far the most likely member of Philadelphia to score the first touchdown — as he did in Week 7. However, there does appear to be some value with Lemon, who is essentially now the Eagles’ No. 1 threat in the aerial attack. The former 20th-overall pick led the team in targets on Monday (8). He also logged a massive 90.9% snap share. Against a Washington defense that’s allowing 2.5 opponent passing touchdowns per contest — the second-most in the NFL — Lemon’s odds should not be this long.

Jeremy McNichols First TD Scorer (+1800)

With Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin) on injured reserve, McNichols got his first taste of action in Week 6’s loss to the 49ers. In fact, McNichols was on the field a lot more than most expected, with his 12 snaps almost double the workload of Austin Ekeler (+3500). It was notable where a majority of McNichols’ touches were coming, too. The veteran’s three red zone carries were, well, three more than starter Rachaad White (+500) saw. Now, White is justifiably the favorite in this market, as he logged a 68.7% snap share and led Washington with 11 touches — including a nine-yard touchdown reception. With that said, McNichols is going to play a role in this backfield on Sunday, and if his usage in San Francisco was any indication, offensive coordinator David Blough isn’t afraid to utilize him near the goal line. That’s enough to make McNichols a worthy long shot.
