There’s no better team in the MLB right now than the Miami Marlins, who have the best winning percentage in baseball since June 1. They’re set to take on the Seattle Mariners tonight, who are atop their own division at the moment. First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. ET in Miami on Tuesday evening.

Here’s a betting prediction and pick for this Mariners vs. Marlins matchup courtesy of MLB odds and lines on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Mariners vs. Marlins prediction, preview

Seattle Mariners

The M’s have begun to look more steady as the AL West leader, though they’re not exactly at contender status just yet. They’re 47-44 on the year with a run differential of +27, also going 6-4 over their last 10 outings. The lineup isn’t exactly a high-scoring one with just 4.09 runs per game, and the OPS of .693 ranks 25th in the MLB as well. With a full slash line of .231/.312/.382, the overall output is relatively modest, but while a .150 ISO is respectable, the club has hit the 12th-most home runs with 109. The Mariners do have a slightly elevated 23.3% K% to go with an 8.9% BB%, but neither of those are poor marks by any means, either.

RHP Bryan Woo gets his 18th appearance after going 7-6 so far this year. He’s got a 4.17 ERA but a low 1.03 WHIP, striking out 97 batters across 99.1 IP. The Mariners’ bullpen ranks fifth in ERA with a 3.54 mark to go with a 1.32 WHIP and a 13.3% K-BB%.

Miami Marlins

There’s no hotter team than the Marlins at the moment, who have a staggering .742 winning percentage since June 1 with a 23-8 record over this span. Frankly, this team is clicking on all cylinders as they’ve managed to move to 49-42 on the year with a +24 run differential. Miami’s OPS of .741 now ranks sixth in baseball on a .254/.331/.410 slash line, amassing a 9.1% BB% with a 21.5% K%. These results have been excellent, no doubt, and a .156 ISO is also respectable even if the club has only 91 homers, 24th in the sport. Against right-handed pitching like tonight’s opposing starter, the Marlins are slashing .257/.334/.412 with a .745 OPS.

RHP Max Meyer starts tonight with a standout 9-1 record in 18 games. He’s pitching to career-best numbers of a 2.53 ERA and 1.11 WHIP, also striking out 112 hitters in 103.0 IP. The bullpen is up to eighth in ERA at 3.76, amassing a 1.21 WHIP and a 14.0% K-BB%.

Mariners vs. Marlins pick, best bet

DraftKings Sportsbook lists the Marlins as -126 home favorites on the Moneyline tonight. The Mariners are underdogs with +105 odds to win outright on the road. The total sits at eight combined runs as well.

Best Bet: MIA Marlins ML (-126)

June was a somewhat difficult month for Woo, who had a 5.97 ERA in his five starts. He’s been very much hit-or-miss and allowed five earned runs in three of those with zero and two earned runs allowed in the other pair. He brings great upside and Seattle’s bullpen is very sound, but against this rejuvenated Miami squad, a loss may be in the cards. The Marlins’ offense looks far better with a .940 OPS that paces the MLB in the last two weeks and the fifth-most runs over that same sample size. Meyer’s number’s are much more consistent than Woo’s as well, allowing just three earned runs in five June starts with one conceded in 6.0 innings this July. His ability to stifle an opponent should be enough to get his team to a win here.
