Opening week of the 2024 WNBA season will continue on tonight and the only game on the schedule will feature the New York Liberty visiting the Indiana Fever. This will be the first of back-to-back matchups between these two squads. Tonight’s game will tip off at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

Indiana (0-1) will look for a better performance after getting housed by Connecticut in a 92-71 blowout loss in Tuesday’s season opener. This will mark the home debut of No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark, who struggled at time’s in her first taste of WNBA action. The Fever guard led the team in scoring with 20 points, but got into foul trouble early and committed 10 turnovers, a league record for a player in their debuting game.

New York (1-0) picked up where it left off from last season by downing Washington in an 85-80 victory in its opener on Tuesday. The Liberty held the Mystics to just under 40% shooting as Jonquel Jones went off for 25 points and eight rebounds. Reigning WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart put up just eight points and eight rebounds in the victory.

New York enters the game as an 8-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, accompanied by a total of 169. The Liberty are listed as a -345 moneyline favorite, making the Fever a +275 underdog.

Fever vs. Sun, 7 p.m. ET

Pick ATS: Liberty -8

Both of these teams were sloppy at times in their respective debuts on Tuesday, especially on the turnover front. I do expect the Fever to clean some things up on the offensive end and they should feed off the energy of the home crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. However, the Liberty are the more experienced team and after a middling season debut, I think Stewart will come out strong in her first matchup against Clark. Give me New York to cover.

Over/Under: Over 168.5

Along with better offensive performances compared to Tuesday, I think both teams can get into the 80’s with ease. I’ll take the over to cash for this showdown.
