Jannik Sinner vs. Alexander Zverev Prediction, Pick for 2026 Indian Wells Open Semifinals

The Indian Wells Open is on to the semifinals. The first men’s semifinal of the day sees World No. 2 Jannik Sinner take on World No. 4 Alexander Zverev. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Sinner is -578 on the Moneyline, while Zverev is +439. This is my best bet to target on DraftKings Sportsbook for the Sinner vs. Zverev match.

Jannik Sinner vs. Alexander Zverev Preview

This has been a historic tournament already for Alexander Zverev. Since the inception of the ATP 1000 Masters series in 1990, only four players have made it to the semifinals of all nine ATP 1000 Masters events. Those players are Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. At least, that was the case until Alexander Zverev finally broke through here at Indian Wells and made his first-ever semifinal. This was the one tournament Zverev was missing on his resume in terms of semifinal appearances. So, he now joins those four 21st-century legends as the fifth player to accomplish this feat. Surely, today’s opponent Jannik Sinner along with Carlos Alcaraz are headed towards accomplishing this as well. However, for now, Zverev and Novak Djokovic are the only active players to have achieved this level of consistent greatness across so many different venues.

Jannik Sinner is looking to get his season back on track. Of course, that means by Sinner’s standards. He made it to the Australian Open semifinals, a great accomplishment for 99.9% of the tennis world. However, after losing to Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, Sinner missed out on a major final for the first time since Wimbledon in 2024. To make matters worse, Sinner followed that up with a disappointing quarterfinals exit from the Qatar Open. However, he looks back to his best here at Indian Wells. He has yet to drop a set in this tournament and just obliterated Learner Tien in the quarterfinals. This is Sinner’s third trip to the semifinals at Indian Wells, but he has never made it to the final. Granted, he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in both of those semifinals. This would be a great win for Sinner, setting up another potential matchup with Alcaraz in the final.

Jannik Sinner vs. Alexander Zverev Pick, Best Bet

My best bet for this semifinal match is for Jannik Sinner to win in straight sets over Alexander Zverev. It seems ridiculous to say when these are two of the four best players in the world, but Sinner is simply on another level. When he is as locked in as he appears to be in this tournament, he is nearly impossible to beat. Early on in Sinner’s career, Zverev was actually a massive thorn in his side. Zverev won four of the first five matchups between these two, including Zverev knocking Sinner out of two US Opens.

However, since Sinner has taken that next step to the wild levels he has been at the past couple of years, Zverev has not been able to touch him. Sinner has now won five straight matches against Zverev. The last two meetings, both within the last six months, were dominated by Sinner. He defeated Zverev 6-0, 6-1 in the Paris Masters semifinal, then defeated Zverev 6-4, 6-3 in the ATP Finals Round Robin stage. Sinner hasn’t dropped a set in this tournament yet, and I don’t see that changing today. He should take care of Alexander Zverev in two sets for the third straight time.

Best Bet: Jannik Sinner to win 2:0 (-175)
