Collin Morikawa

THE PLAYERS Championship features the largest purse of the season at $25 million and Collin Morikawa’s game is peaking just in time for this big event. After a disappointing season by his standards in 2025, Morikawa has been awesome in 2026. In his last three starts, the former Open champion has finished first, T7th and fifth.

All three of these were Signature Events that featured the PGA TOUR’s best players competing for a $20 million purse. Morikawa began this run with a win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which marked his seventh victory on the PGA TOUR. That week, Morikawa carded a 10-under 62 in the second round, which is one stroke shy of his career low and is tied for the second-lowest score on the PGA TOUR this season. The Cal product has shot under par in 13 straight rounds and his ball striking has been incredible.

This season, Morikawa ranks third in SGT2G and fifth in SG APP, which sets him up perfectly for TPC Sawgrass. This par 72 is very much a second-shot course, and each of the last five winners have finished the event top-eight in SG APP. Morikawa’s work on the greens has also improved, as he has gained strokes putting at back-to-back events.

When Morikawa can roll it well on the greens to complement his stellar ball striking, he will always be in a prime position to win. TPC Sawgrass being home to Poa greens is a great sign for Morikawa’s flat stick. The 29-year-old just won on Poa putting surfaces at Pebble Beach last month and ranks 13th in total strokes gained when we compare this field’s last 50 rounds at venues with this green type.

Morikawa has made four-of-five cuts at TPC Sawgrass, including a T13 in 2023 and a T10 last season. He carded a 7-under 65 in the second round last season and should contend again this week.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Morikawa carries the third-best odds to win THE PLAYERS Championship at +2050.
