The Peaky Blinders are one of the gangs chosen to help, and Tim Roth portrays the British man orchestrating this deal on behalf of the Nazis.
It is on Tommy Shelby to try to protect the few members of his family he has left, while also trying to save the country from collapsing. Many fans speculated that Tommy Shelby could die at the end of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. It was confirmed to be Cillian Murphy’s final Peaky Blinders project. Additionally, the title is almost a giveaway of how the story will end. Throughout the Peaky Blinders series, Tommy Shelby almost hopes for death, but instead, his loved ones keep dying around him, while he survives. That is a major theme in the film, as Tommy Shelby doesn’t understand why he is one of the only members of his family still alive. That is made worse when his sister, Ada, is killed by the Nazi sympathizer portrayed by Tim Roth.
In the climax of the film, Tommy Shelby, his son Duke and the Peaky Blinders pull off their mission to destroy the counterfeit cash the Nazis are attempting to inject into the British economy. However, Tommy Shelby is looking for his eternal peace in this final mission. He feels as if he has fixed his relationship with his son and set him up to lead the Peaky Blinders the right way moving forward. Thomas Shelby is now ready to join his family in the afterlife.
Tommy Shelby accepts his fate, getting shot by Tim Roth’s character multiple times before Shelby kills him. However, Shelby insists that his son, Duke, take the final shot to finish him off for good. After an emotional embrace and exchange, Duke Shelby fires one more shot into his father, killing him mercifully. That marked the end of Thomas Shelby and his time as the leader of the Peaky Blinders gang. It sent a clear message that his son, Duke, is now in charge of the gang. So, marks the end of one of the greatest television characters ever conceived.
